  • Speaking of vehicle crashes, there were a couple of what you might call "unscheduled landings" for two small planes pulling banner ads over Dover Township in our neighboring state of NJ on Saturday. One experienced engine trouble and managed to make it to a field for an emergency landing. The other had a far more dramatic emergency landing right in the middle of a shore-bound highway (Route 37) at 1 in the afternoon, getting its banner tangled in electrical wires and striking street signs and a vehicle on its way down. The plane finally came to rest in front of an International House of Pancakes, where it sat, blocking traffic, for a few hours. No one was hurt in either incident. And hopefully the pilot of the second plane got to have some pancakes for his/her trouble. Assuming, of course, the accident wasn't his/her fault in the first place, in which case, no pancakes for you!

  • Think you've tried everything to stop smoking? Well, have you tried lasers? Apparently we've got a Stop Smoking Laser Therapy Center serving the Philly area at 409 N. Easton Rd. in Willow Grove. Their press release explains, "When you stop smoking, it is primarily the sudden drop in endorphin levels that leads to withdrawal symptoms and physical cravings." So they use a "soft laser beam, applied to specific energy points on your body" to keep you producing endorphins, thus relaxing you and your cravings. Crazy. (Via)
