A woman in her 20s was found dead in a West Oak Lane grocery yesterday afternoon. A store employee is expected to be charged with the shooting. The details surrounding the incident remain murky. The departed is the city’s 294th homicide victim this year.
Authorities issued a warrant yesterday for Dorien Oberlton's arrest in the case of Tuesday's vicious beating of Eric Derrickson in an underground subway concourse. Several witnesses came forward to identify Oberlton, who apparently had a long-standing grudge against Derrickson for supposedly stealing his girl.
Philadelphia corrections officer Christopher Davidson has been arrested after going on a crazy rampage on an ATV in East Germantown on Tuesday evening. He drove all over a playing field, as well as nearby sidewalks and streets, nearly crashing into numerous vehicles and nearly running over numerous people. The ATV finally stopped after slamming into a police wagon and flipping several times, but that wasn't the end of the chase; police had to continue chasing Davidson on foot before finally wrestling a handgun away from him and taking him into custody. The article doesn't mention it, but... we're betting he was on something.
Also pleading guilty was a man who stole 165 Civil War documents from the National Archives Philadelphia office. He sold between 70 and 80 of them on eBay - which is actually what got him caught. Now he could spend as many as 10 years in jail.
