The weekend is still barely visible over the horizon, but that doesn't mean you can't have some weekendly fun upon this unseasonably warm eve. Here are a few things to do so you can tell your friends how immersed you are in city life.

Both the Inquirer and the Daily News are taking a look this morning at the three finalists for the job of chief executive officer of the School District of Philadelphia, and the Inquirer also has a look at the 45 advisory committee members who will actually be interviewing the finalists and selecting the CEO from among them.

As commenter Matt pointed out over the weekend, Y-Rock on XPN is going to be hosting a free screening of , a Film Festival movie we totally dug, starring the frontman of a band we totally dig. What's more, Matt tells us that said frontman, Glen Hansard, will be on hand for a private performance and Q&A session after the show. And seriously, how cool is that?

From noon until 8:30 tomorrow, the Center City District is putting on a little outdoor soiree on both 13th Street between Chestnut and Walnut Streets & Sansom Street between 12th and 13th Streets. There will be music, art, books for sale for $1 per pound (woot!) and several local restaurants and business will be out hawking their wares. Tonight the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia will be screening Satoshi Kon's Tokyo Godfathers on the 7th floor of the Bellevue (Broad and Walnut Streets) at 6:30 PM. If we're reading this right - the film follows three wildly different homeless characters as they care for an abandoned baby on Christmas Eve. Hmm. Not exactly your traditional holiday story...but the tag line, "Meet the ultimate dysfunctional family," is something people of all cultures seem to relate to around the holidays. (Phillyist, of course, does not refer to our own family, who is a paragon of normalcy, and whom we never, ever complain about when they're out of earshot. And we didn't just roll our eyes either. Honest.)
