Gov. Corzine, facing budget problems in a grim economy, will highlight some of the things going right in New Jersey today in his third state-of-the-state speech. He cited education, where he has spent considerable energy, as one area where he feels accomplishments should be noted. New Jersey faces fallout from the economic crisis, including job losses and widening budget deficits. Corzine has said that the economy is his "No. 1, 2 and 3" priority.
On Sunday, a man with no heart and sticky fingers stole a wad of cash in a jar placed in a gas station by a charity aimed at helping children with terminal illnesses, and then returned later to spend some of the money. The man (if you can call him that), at about 7 a.m., entered Rimbaugh's Exxon gas station, on Route 23 near White Horse Road in Phoenixville, where he tucked a small, clear, money-filled bucket with a red lid under his jacket and left the store. A surveillance video shows the man stashing the container in a light-colored Nissan and re-entering the store, where he made several purchases.
Bad news for Joey Chestnut: Wing Bowl, Philadelphia’s annual gluttonfest will be a local-amateurs-only event once again, WIP sports host Angelo Cataldi proclaimed this morning. Tickets for the Jan. 30 event will go on sale through ComcastTix at 10 a.m., Dec. 15.
