This Sunday, a music legend comes to the World Cafe Live. And he's not just coming to play. Bob Mould (MySpace) will take part in a special Q&A session before performing an intimate acoustic set. Then he'll step aside for a screening of his first concert DVD, Circle of Friends. If that doesn't sound cool, there's something wrong with you. Phillyist has complained before about the pains of public transit commuting in our fine city. While we often ascribe malicious intent to the hulkling behomoth that is our Transportation Authority, they do sometimes try to do something nice for us huddling masses. This Sunday, in celebration of the El's 100th anniversary, you can ride the El for free between the hours of 12 and 5. If you're transferring from another system, you won't even need a transfer. Attendees are invited to try their hands at creating "old-skool" potato heads & potato portraits, all for the glory of "amazing potato prizes."
This Sunday, the InLiquid.com art community is hosting WinterFest III 2006 at Skytop Scooter. Among the attractions will be several local musical talents (Soulamite, Striga and more) and, we're excited to say, an ice-carving contest. Registration for the contest is closed, but you can still come out to eat the food, hear the music, support InLiquid and watch ice become art (which will be a nice change from complaining about it coating the streets and sidewalk).

Fun around town, for $10 or less:
There's nothing funny about shelters for the victims of domestic abuse -- and that's a problem that a bunch of local-area actors are aiming to solve.
