A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets.

Portugal The Man isn't a country or a person; it's a classic 3-piece band from Alaska whose latest album, Church Mouth, is a collection of indie music with a rich classic rock flavor. Their website says that bands referenced on the disc include the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the White Stripes, the Mars Volta and Santana, and... yep, we can hear all of those in there. Especially the White Stripes, since lead singer John Baldwin Gourley sounds quite a bit like Jack White.

They’re responsible for a half decade of pretty, meta-melodic British acts like Keane, Aqualung, and that band that was burned as the answer to the question, “You know how I know you’re gay?” It’s been quite some time since Travis has been an active name in music. More recently, they’ve been getting less attention as influencers, and more for their new album The Boy with No Name. It’s been 3 years since their last record,...

We here in the Ist-A-Verse know that we're sensational, but it's very rare that we get a chance to be sensationalistic. This week, we've decided to have ourselves a little fun and try our hand at tacky tabloid headlines, using nothing more than our favorite posts from this week.

Ah, the Trocadero - is there anything it can't do? It's a burlesque house, a concert hall, and, once a week, a movie theater. For a $3 fee (which can be applied towards concessions), you can see movies on their big screen. Phillyist is pretty sure this is the only movie theater in town where you can drink and smoke while you talk back at the screen. Next showing will be Monday the 14th, when The Troc will be screening . The Troc is located at 1003 Arch Street, and Movie Monday's start at 8PM.
