The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment. While we were watching Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles last night (which, btw, was surprisingly good), we saw a cool Dell commercial with a kick-ass soundtrack, and a quick Google search turned up the video, and the important information that the awesome song is a new, original track from Devo! Sweet. Elijah Wood said some interesting things about the upcoming Hobbit......

Over the weekend, I visited the King Tut exhibition at the Franklin Institute for the second time. (The first time also yielded a column.) The exhibit closes in a few days, so it's more crowded than it was when I went in March. That's to be expected. Unfortunately, large crowds breed bad behavior. You see it at airports; you see it at rock concerts; and surprisingly enough, you see it at museums. The King......

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend. Inside Paris or Dans Paris - The story of a man who is left suicidal and depressed after his marriage breaks up. He goes back home to live with his divorced dad and his younger brother. Although they try to cheer him up, the only thing that actually makes him happier is a visit from his distant mother. Eventually, of course, he finds something to live......

Films: The King of Kong Future Screenings: None Well, last night was it for me. I saw my 20th and final film of the festival, and tonight it'll be time for me to take a break and catch up on some much-needed sleep! For those of you who haven't had enough, however, and/or who live a bit further afield and had a hard time making it into the city to see movies this year, keep......

The Philadelphia Film Festival has announced its Festival Favorites, and you can find a list of them on the festival website. They're all screening tomorrow evening in only two timeslots, which seems like a terrible idea to us, as that means you'll only be able to see two of them, at most (unless you've got Hermione's magical time turner on you). This Phillyist, for instance, would like to see Dog Bite Dog, but it's at......

The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you. Just how lazy are you? Can you barely summon up the energy to climb out of bed and crawl over to your computer to check your email? Well, good news: now you don't have to! Just get yourself an Ergopod and you can blog and game lying down, like the compu-slug you are. The bad news is, Sean......

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you. Jess at Apropos of Something has exposed himself (and his friends!) to the horror that is the Jones Soda Holiday Pack - so we don't have to! His reviews of sodas with flavors like "Pea," "Turkey and Gravy," and "Dinner Roll" are both amusing and slightly nauseating. Just like the holidays! Speaking of the holidays, here's a holiday gift from us......

This week's quote is by Edward Bond and relates to theatre at its very core: “First there was the theatre of people and animals, then of people and the devil. Now we need the theatre of people and people.” Now, on with the listings! Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland - The website uses the word “topsy-turvy,” so how can’t we endorse this production? December 6-30. Tickets online. The Eight: Reindeer Monologues - If you’ll pardon the......

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend. The King - Another Film Festival movie we missed, this looks to be a very intense and dramatic film about family, passion, and revenge, starring Gael Garcia Bernal as Elvis Sandow, a young man who gets released from the Navy and heads out to find the father he never knew. The father (played by the fantastic William Hurt) turns out to be an evangelical pastor in......

Some know him as the bumbling half of Martin and Lewis, others as "that telethon guy," and we hear tell that French consider him a comic genius (C'est vrai, Parisist?); but no matter which of his many incarnations you know Jerry Lewis for, Phillyist is pretty sure you know of him. The King of Comedy turned Noble Peace Prize nominee will be at The Free Library's Central Branch (1901 Vine Street) on Saturday night,......

Once upon a time, Phillyist followed the North Star to find Champions, Robbers, and The King. Ok - so it's not really fairy tale (with band names like that though, we couldn't resist), but if you stayed home last night brushing your Rapunzel-like hair instead of among the audience at at the North Star for the Robbers on High Street, you should be sorry, because you missed one heck of a show. That's right, we......

You might already be familiar with NYC duo The King of France if you watched the promos for MTV's Real World: Austin. However, if you stopped watching Real World (and / or MTV) after Philadelphia was freed from our own season of whinging twenty-somethings, you'll have a chance to check out The King of France tonight at The North Star, along with Robbers on High Street. The King of France's eponymous album is full of......
