Inadvertently. You see, the men's room at the North Star Bar—which is very small, only fitting one person at a time—doesn't lock. And I was in the middle of relieving myself when I hear the door open, and look back just in time to see the frontman of The Honorary Title sheepishly close the door again. Whoops. Sorry, Jarrod.

Paper Route's recent EP poses the question, "" In a weekend where this Phillyist saw six bands—including three of this Phillyist's favorite bands—and Paper Route was the first of those six, it would be easy for the answer to that question to be, "Yep," or at least, "Oh yeah, we did see Paper Route this weekend." But fortunately, Paper Route's set at Festival Pier on Friday night was strong enough that it stuck in our heads, despite seeing some other fantastic performers both Friday night and on Sunday night (which you'll read about tomorrow).

It's a bit difficult for us to convey just how psyched we are for Sunday night's concert at the North Star Bar. Not one, but two of our favorite bands will hitting town to provide some much-needed respite from the 24-7 Olympics coverage we've been drowning in. So some good brew, some good bar food, and some excellent tunes sounds like just what we need to get us out of the house (not to mention get us mentally calm before launching into the work week on Monday). And oh, how excellent the tunes will be, what with Paper Rival (MySpace) and The Honorary Title (MySpace) on the schedule. (And we've actually compared Paper Rival to The Honorary Title on these very pages, so we're especially excited about this show.)

Let's just say, heading into Sunday night's Mae concert at the Fillmore at the TLA, we didn't have the highest expectations. Former Phillyist and current SFist writer Spencer commented that he was less than impressed with Mae the couple times he'd seen him. Plus, we went to the show straight from doing our Barking Beauty Liveblog, and really, how could anything be better than that, right? On the plus side, one of our favorite bands, The Honorary Title, was the primary support; and, Mae's latest album, contains some pretty solid music. So we tried to remain cautiously optimistic.

We're gonna have a great day Sunday, and we really hope you join us for it. As you've heard by now, we're going to be liveblogging the Barking Beauty pageant. And from there, we're gonna be making our way to the TLA... err, Fillmore at the TLA... for the Mae show.

My favorite part about about being a Phillyist writer is the late-night orgies checking out all sorts of music I never would have heard albums of the year. There are some selections on this list (okay, one in particular) that are indefensible. But read on, and watch my credibility melt away before your very eyes...

In the last few weeks, the Eagles have looked absolutely anemic against the Giants, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against da' Bears, and unimpressively beaten a couple hopeless teams in the Jets and the Vikings by a mere touchdown apiece. So forgive me for not being that optimistic about Sunday night's game against the Cowboys. Sure, our defense has been fairly solid... if we forget that last 1:57 of the Bears game, where we managed to make Brian Griese look like Jon Elway. But the Cowboys are the best offense not wearing New England Patriots uniforms that we'll see this year. I've resigned myself to getting beaten, probably badly, by our arch-rivals. So much so, in fact, that I won't be watching Sunday night's game. Instead, I'll be spending Sunday night with another rival: Paper Rival.

The 24 hours preceding the Honorary Title concert at the Electric Factory had gone just about as well as any 24-hour period in my life, and it was gonna be pretty difficult for anything to kill my happy buzz Friday evening. Well, the Electric Factory tried its damnedest.

We recently described Eric Hutchinson as sounding a little like a lot of other artists while still having his own unique place in today's music. Well tonight at the Electric Factory, we'll be checking out a band that we can say the same thing about: The Honorary Title. We got a hold of their and we officially jumped on board.

As far as I'm concerned, The Honorary Title should be headlining their own tour, but Friday night at the Theatre of Living Arts they fronted Butch Walker. Obviously most of the audience was there to see Butch Walker. This simple fact had a huge impact on The Honorary Title's performance and attitude. There were several issues with the concert, but most of them were due to circumstance, and weren't the band's fault. They played...

Tonight, Theatre of the Living Arts presents Butch Walker and the Let's Go Out Tonites with The Honorary Title and Rocket starting at 9PM. We're very excited for The Honorary Title's performance because they're debuting some new tracks off of their upcoming CD, Scream and Light up the Sky, which is due out in June. Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to interview Jarrod Gorbel, the lead singer of The Honorary Title. He talked...
