...All of you. And to show you just how thankful we are, we're giving you the next couple of days off from reading the site. We want you to step away from your computers and spend time this holiday weekend with your loved ones. We'll be back to our regular schedule once our tryptophan-tastic comas wear off.

Planning on catching Philly's annual parade this Thanksgiving day? Grab a seat on the patio of the Capriccio Café and Espresso Bar at Café Cret for prime parade watching and fuel up with hot chocolate, coffee, pastries and sandwiches. The café is located at Three Parkway Plaza (Between 16th and 17th Streets on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway); the parade takes place Thursday, November 27, 6:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. The café, which features indoor and outdoor seating, helps generate revenue to support maintenance of the plaza and the Parkway. Named after one of the original designers of the Parkway, Paul Cret, Café Cret also serves as an information center for local programs and events.

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

Fun around town, for $10 or less:

For me, Thanksgiving is rarely about the turkey. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the turkey is generally a let-down.

God Bless John Oates. And his 'stache.

  • Voter-rights advocates and election officials argued yesterday in federal court over how to keep lines moving if Pennsylvania voting machines break down on Election Day. The Inquirer takes a look at how the Obama and McCain campaigns faired in the bad weather; Obama went ahead with an outdoor rally in Chester, despite the rain and wind. The latest Franklin & Marshall/Daily News poll shows Obama winning in Pennsylvania by 13 points. Meanwhile, traditionally Republican Chester County could go blue.
  • Barack Obama's wife, Michelle Obama, was apparently well received when she spoke at a rally at Haverford College yesterday. A new Daily News/Franklin & Marshall poll has Clinton still in the lead with 46% support among likely Democratic voters, but Obama is closing in behind with 40% (14% are still undecided). As we mentioned yesterday, the candidates will be holding a debate tonight at the National Constitution Center, and the Daily News expects the sparks to fly. Oh, and don't forget those traffic restrictions.
  • I've spoken before of my love for the Food Network. And now, I have one more thing to love about my favorite addicting cable network: swag. Just before Thanksgiving, they contacted me to see if I was interested in trying out any of the items from their Holiday Gift Guide. "All of them," I replied. They informed me that they couldn't send me one of everything, but that they'd send me the Calphalon Nonstick Everyday...

The holidays kind of snuck up on us this year. Perhaps because Thanksgiving was so early. After Turkey Day was over, it was still too early to get into the Christmannakkanzaa spirit. (This Phillyist adheres to a strict "No Christmas music before December 1" rule.) And then we got caught up with other things, and we didn't really notice that, yep, we're in holiday season. It took Thursday night's WXPN Musicians On Call benefit concert...

Phillyist likes shopping for toys. We don’t know why. Perhaps biology is rearing its ugly head, reminding us that even savvy (read: nerdy) urbanites can and indeed should procreate. In any event, when this Phillyist used to be a good Catholic, we’d love the week after Thanksgiving when the Christmas tree would go up in the back of the church, decorated with cardboard stars on which the details of a child in need of...

The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you. Here's the fascinating story of how amateur sleuths solved the mystery of the missing remains of Czar Nicholas II's family members. (Via Jill) Just because the Thanksgiving holiday weekend is over doesn't mean we're out of fun Thanksgiving-related links for you. First of all, turns out it's probably not the turkey itself that makes you sleepy after the...

Okay, so your significant other has met the parents, and things weren't a disaster. In fact, everyone got along swimmingly. When the holidays were approaching, your parents even encouraged you to bring your significant other along. One problem: your parents are normal. The members of your extended family, who will be in attendance at Thanksgiving/Chanukah/Christmas dinner... are not. If left unprepared, your significant other might freak out and, tragedy of tragedies, leave you out...

The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment. One of the stars of Speed Racer has revealed that the movie was filmed with no sets, entirely in front of green screen. Ouch! Game|Life has a detailed of deconstruction of why the much-anticipated Assassin's Creed is a failed game. Astronomers have found a giant hole in the universe which may in fact be the imprint of another universe on our...

In Los Angeles, LAist most definitely celebrated Thanksgiving like no other. After all, one has to keep up all the energy to keep on walking the line at the Writers Strike and fighting the unfortunate return of the wildfires in Malibu, which single handedly destroyed over fifty homes within the first 24 hours. National outlets may be covering the fires, but CNN also found it is easier to buy a gun than fruit and veggies in South Central. On the entertainment front, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are suing Showtime over the show titled Californication and Rami Kashou of Project Runway chatted with LAist about his Palestinian heritage and, of course, designing beauty.

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets. As we did in our news post, let's get all the holiday-related stuff out of the way first: just in time for Thanksgiving, Cinematical finally announced the winners of their Halloween costume contest (definitely not our favorites, but we never got around to voting, so we guess it's our own fault). They also have a list of Seven Movie Characters They'd Hate to...

Fun around town, for $10 or less:

Let's get all the holiday news out of the way first: the Inquirer has coverage of the 88th annual Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, which mainly focuses on the great weather. They greet Black Friday by reminding us of the many toy recalls, and by pointing out that there could be lots of great deals to be had out there due to a yearlong sales slump and tons of extra inventory. Now that the Mayoral...

We're on hiatus today so we can stuff our faces full of turkey and then pass out on the sofa while watching football because of all the tryptophan. If that's not exactly your Thanksgiving style, maybe this is:...

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this holiday weekend (all of these movies open today). Most Likely to Rule: I'm Not There - An "unconventional" biopic of Bob Dylan wherein six different actors play him at various stages in his career. Said actors include Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere, and Heath Ledger. Also in the cast (but not playing Bob) are David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, and Julianne Moore. We could see how this...

Last year, we told you what we like to do with our Thanksgiving leftovers. Others take the leftover turkey and make soup or pot pies. Some eat hot turkey sandwiches for weeks. We'd imagine that the week after Thanksgiving isn't a good time at establishments like Bassett's Original Turkey or Boston Market, because, let's face it, it'll be at least a few weeks before anyone is ready for turkey again. But we've gotta eat something...

What's new and/or interesting on TV this week. Nova (Tue, 8PM-9PM, WHYY & WLVT) - This episode apparently consists mainly of footage of a war between termites and fierce, dragon-shaped army ants. The ants are used by a Cameroon tribe known as the Mofu to protect their huts and granaries from the termites. Good times! Wired Science (Wed, 8PM-9PM, WHYY & WLVT) - As always, a great big hodge podge of crazy applications of science...
