The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you. Another fun, geeky blog for us to read: Super Punch. (Via Amy) Defective Yeti's amusing thoughts on the Republican National Convention. If you hit Google this morning, you may have noticed that the logo is devoted to the Large Hadron Collider. That's because they switched the LHC on today, an event that some said would destroy the world. But because it's......

Golden Girl, Estelle Getty, died today of Lewy Body Dementia, a progressive brain disease. She was 84. She would have been 85 on Friday and 86 a year from then. Her longtime caregiver Paul Chapdelaine wrote on her website: Estelle, we love you and will miss you dearly. We pray that you are met at the Pearly Gate with open arms and a warm welcome by all who have passed before you. If there's a......

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets. The A-Team movie has a release date! Gas up the van and get a plan together for getting to the theater on June 12, 2009. The picture's a little dark, so it's hard to see too many details, but this first look at Snake Eyes from the G.I. Joe movie is still pretty exciting. Record industry execs report that they're in preliminary conversations......

The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you. Cracked offers a horrifying (and hilarious) vision of what next year's Oscar nominees could be like if the writer's strike doesn't end (via). Meanwhile, Taco Bell has launched a contest on its website that offers striking WGA members a chance to win free food for a year (valued at $250) by "injecting fun and fresh bits of wisdom......

Photograph of memorial outside Heath Ledger's NYC apartment Gothamist learned that actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his SoHo apartment, cause of death unknown so far (but apparently the masseuse who found him called Mary-Kate Olsen before 911).Bostonist considered sending a link about the Super Bowl, but damn! Rocky and Rambo have sided with the soldier: Sylvester Stallone told Fox News yesterday morning that he is backing John McCain in his presidential bid. We find his justification reasonable, though perhaps less elegant than it could be: "I like McCain a lot. A lot," Stallone said. He called the Republican the right character for the times. "The script that's being written - and the reality - is pretty brutal and pretty hard-edged like a......

UPDATE: Digg this, please! “Thanks for coming out to the movie tonight. If we catch you filming anything, we will pull you out of here and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law, so (Jack Benny-esque comedic pause) enjoy the movie.” With these words spoken by a suited, security officer before the screening of Sylvester Stallone’s new Rambo film, perhaps I should have been tipped off to the aggressive nature of the film......

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets. The DGA has reached a tentative three-year deal with the AMPTP; the hope is that the WGA will soon follow suit. "Time Warner Cable will experiment with a new pricing structure for high-speed Internet access later this year, charging customers based on how much data they download." This is good news for grandmas who only use the internet to forward cute emails to......

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets. MapQuest now has a function for mapping the best gas prices. And perhaps unsurprisingly, all the best prices in the Philadelphia area are in... New Jersey. (Via Allen) Supposedly the new Friday the 13th movie won't be a remake - instead, it'll be a story set between parts two and four (uh... wouldn't that be three?) that features "a leaner, meaner, faster Jason......

The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment. This is for all the lonely geek ladies out there: a programmable vibrator. The programs are called Grooves, and the Je Joue intimate massager comes pre-loaded with "10 of our finest," says the website. Of course, there's only one thing we can say to that: Oo la la. If you're name isn't Tommy Morrison, you proably do want this chance, right?!
