You think the Fourth of July party stops on the 5th? Hell no! You got a whole weekend’s worth of patriotism to work through… not to mention food…

Don't forget, if your work day gets rough, that it's actually Wednesday and not Tuesday. In Holidayland, where the weeks are short and the thunderstorms the weathermen have been insisting on for almost two weeks continue to evade radar. Evadar? Oh, nevermind. Hopefully we haven't jinxed the mild dry spell.
The 2007 Sunoco Welcome America! Festival launched yesterday (complete with live map to tell you where the festivities are, or, if you're like us, what parts of the city to avoid over the next few days). Between now and Wednesday, there's a ton of celebratin' to do, as part of Welcome America! or otherwise. We know that at some point, we'll be barbecuing some burgers and dogs, and watching fireworks are an absolute must, but otherwise, everything is really up in the air. So what we want to know is how like to celebrate Independence Day. Do you go in for the parades? Pay homage to the Founding Fathers at Independence Hall, where this holiday got started? Do you escape the city and head down the shore? Watch the fireworks, or, perhaps, light some of your own? Leave us a comment and let us know where you'll be and what you'll be doing!
As part of Sunoco's Welcome America! series, you'll be able to watch Rocky go the distance tonight on the steps of the Art Museum. And you'll get to watch it for free! This now annual event is a good time for all-- just be sure to bring a blanket. Those steps are hard whether you're pounding 'em or sitting on 'em.
On Wednesday, Phillyist got to spend some quality time with the very successful Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, best known as the team behind GoPhila.com. The GPTMC has been around for ten years now and it's happy to be starting year eleven with a bang. The afternoon's press conference at the Bellevue marked the official launch of Boundless Philadelphia, the GPTMC's new eco-friendly tourism campaign that will emphasize all the outdoor activities that Philly has to offer, and the relaunch of the "Philly's More Fun When You Sleep Over" campaign, complete with new Pajama Man and an all-singing, all-dancing Broadway-inspired commercial, set to launch June 11, which is (coincidentally?) the night of the Tonys. Between the press conference and the birthday party that happened after, we've now heard the new jingle at least six times, and we've already got it mostly memorized. (We will warn you, however, about some accidental Ben Franklin/Liberty Bell violence.)
