Looking for a new way to start the weekend? Head on over to the art museum for its Art After 5 series. This week's Art After 5 concert features up-and-coming jazz trumpeter Sean Jones. This 29-year-old has been making a name for himself as the lead trumpeter for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (with Wynton Marsalis). True to their name, these concerts (free with museum admission) go from 5 PM until 8:45 PM on Fridays in the Great Stair Hall.

John Stewart mentions the #1 sports mascot in the country at the end of this video. How? You'll just have to wait and see.

What's new and/or interesting on TV this week. Paranormal State (Mon, 10PM-11PM, A&E) - The debut of a new reality show featuring members of Penn State University's Paranormal Research Society investigating reports of paranormal phenomena. During this hour, they seem to be playing two episodes, one about a boy who can supposedly see dead people, and another about a supposedly haunted house where murders were committed. Head on down to Mew Gallery tomorrow night to help them welcome Confections: Photography, an exhibition by Amy Stevens. Seems Ms. Stevens has an obsession with cake imagery and a fetish for color; while the latter is certainly an asset to most any artist, those of us with a baking problem can certainly see the artistic benefit of the former. The project started as a celebration for her 30th birthday; the idea was she'd bake thirty cakes and photograph them. She didn't quite make it to the goal by b-day, but the early process (including a kit from Martha Stewart) helped her rebel against the idea of food "perfection," and allowed her to be "as grotesque and amazing as possible." The current exhibit is the result, with the creations matched to often outrageous fabrics and backgrounds.

. It's a show that we know quite well and we felt that we were in a good position to be tough critics if that's what was required of us.

You could spend your weekend preparing snacks for and making bets on Sunday's Oscar hoopla or you could spend it digging up sparkly, gold-sequined hats, black fishnets and the reddest red lipstick on the market; because come Monday night, after Jon Stewart's opening monologue is already passé water-cooler fodder, the utterly fabulous (yet never nominated by the Academy) film classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, will be showing at the World Cafe.

Some of us are not exactly Martha Stewart in the kitchen. There's help for those that want a nice, traditional Thanksgiving dinner at home, but don't want reach into a turkey's ass to nab the goody bag of extra parts.
