  • More than a dozen Gloucester County residents, including a teacher, have been arrested as part of a statewide crackdown on the possession and distribution of computer pornography involving children. State Attorney General Anne Milgram and county Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton yesterday announced the arrests of seven adults and six juveniles in Gloucester following a nearly three-month investigation. More are expected as the probe continues. "Child pornography is not a victimless crime," Milgram said. Among those arrested was James J. Atkinson III, a music teacher and the chairman of the Fine Arts Department at West Deptford High School.

  • The election is getting closer, which means it's time for some voter intimidation! "An anonymous flier circulating in African-American neighborhoods in North and West Philadelphia states that voters who are facing outstanding arrest warrants or who have unpaid traffic tickets may be arrested at the polls on Election Day." This is false.
  • In case you didn't know, our good friends at PAWS represent the adoption branch of the Philadelphia Animal Care & Control Association, which has been the city's contractor for animal services for the last several years. Here's an example of how it worked (in an admittedly oversimplified way): When a person saw a stray animal, he or she would call the city (or PACCA directly), for PACCA to catch the animal. When the PACCA workers caught the animal, if it was adoptable, they would turn it over to PAWS so that it could be adopted out.
