Yesterday, in a speech to the AFL-CIO, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton endeared herself to the citizens of Philadelphia by comparing herself to Philly’s Phavorite Phictional Phrized Phighter, Rocky Balboa: "Sen. Obama says he's getting tired of the campaign. His supporters say they want it to end," she said. "Could you imagine if Rocky Balboa had gotten halfway up those art museum stairs and said, 'Well, I guess that's about far enough?' That's not the way......

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets. In case you're still not sure which of the 2008 presidential candidates looks good to you, you can now make a final decision based on the most important information of all: what their favorite movies are. Although actually since they've pretty much all picked unquestionably excellent films, it's still hard to make a decision. We're leaning towards Edwards, though, because Dr. Strangelove was......

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you. Maxim Online has a bunch of video clips of Human Weapons - meaning, action movie stars being total badasses. Good stuff! (Via) Dropping Daylight want to be picked as one of AOL's "Breakers" - meaning, tomorrow's brightest stars - and in order to get the votes they need, they're willing to bribe you! Each time you vote for them, you email......

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend. Curse of the Golden Flower - Zhang Yimou does the epic period melodrama thing with Chow Yun Fat as the Emperor of 10th Century China, and Gong Li as the ailing Empress, who's been having an affair with her stepson. The plot summary (which you can read here) is quite complex, so we won't go into any more detail - suffice it to say there's lots......

The police have caught one of the city's most dangerous killers - although they didn't know he was one of the city's most dangerous killers when they arrested him. They were booking him for stealing a cell phone when they realized who they had. Two police raids this past Friday and Saturday turned up a bunch of drugs (including especially large amounts of cocaine), guns, and wads of cash. The Board of Ethics is......

Let's start with the most important news first: Rocky Balboa is premiering in Philly tonight at the Prince Music Theater and Sly Stallone, the Italian Stallion himself, should be there! Very exciting. Although the cops seem to have caught the "Screwdriver Bandit," thanks in part to some internet detective work on PhillyBlog.com, a scar-faced robber and gunman who attacked some women in North Philly is still on the loose, as is the man with the......

A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you. Sure, a random internet poll doesn't mean all that much, and maybe Joystiq readers are all just Nintendo fan boys (although we don't think so), but these numbers still seem pretty telling to us. The Wii and Xbox 360 have strong support, with the highest percentage of voters saying they either already own the console, or plan to buy it soon. But the......

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you. Rumor is that Gamestop and EB will begin accepting pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii later this week. If the lines at Gamestops and EBs for the beginning of PS3 pre-ordering yesterday are any indication, you might want to get there early! Oh, and don't forget to pick up some accessories. We would be remiss if we did not present to you......

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you. A unique art show opened on Monday in Cleveland, Ohio, and runs until September 29th. It's called the Grumpy Freak Show, and on display are 8-inch vinyl Grumpy Bear dolls customized by over 50 artists. All the dolls will be auctioned to benefit Harvest for Hunger. As with all things these days, the show has a blog. Perhaps not as common,......

A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you. Every fictional universe worth its salt has had a disgustingly detailed timeline created at one point or another, either by a fan or by the author him/herself, but has anybody ever made a complete timeline of all events in all movies ever? We doubt it, but that is in fact the ambitious goal of The Movie Timeline. It's user-contributed, so jump in there......

The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment. It's Rocky time again here at Whiz of the Web. This time we have for you the teaser trailer for the upcoming film, Rocky Balboa. And you know what: it's not bad. There's nothing much to see here except a close-up of Rocky's bruised and bloodied face, and in terms of audio, all we get is some cheering and a monologue......

If you're name isn't Tommy Morrison, you proably do want this chance, right?! We heard it through the digital grapevine - you know, over e-mail - that there are two featured parts currently being cast for the new Rocky movie, which is called Rocky Balboa (just in case you forgot his last name). Heery Casting is casting two parts, and here is the info: "Heery Casting is looking for 2 men for PRINCIPAL ROLES for......

Pat Croce has given up his quest to open a casino in Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Croce wanted to build his casino at the location of the old Adam's Mark Hotel, but pressure from City Councilman Mike Nutter, and local residents, helped him decide that he didn't want to build a casino that would receive such fierce opposition. Croce, former 76ers president who also has a penchant for pirates, writing books and yelling......
