  • Bad news: the postage price for first class mail is going up to 41 cents as of May 14th. Good news: on the same day, the post office is going to start putting out stamps marked with "Forever" instead of a price, which means they'll be good to use no matter how much the price rises in the future. (Although you still have to pay whatever the current price is when you buy it.) And what will adorn the first of these stamps, you ask? Why, it'll be Philly's very own Liberty Bell! Nice.
  • With Rep. Chaka Fattah announcing he is running for mayor of Philadelphia, his wife, NBC 10 anchor Renee Chenault-Fattah, will remain at the anchor desk, despite a blatantly obvious conflict of interest. Sunday’s Inquirer reports that “her 11 p.m. coanchor, Tim Lake, will handle any stories involving the mayoral race or City Hall.”

WCAU newscast changes are officially in the works

Election night, NBC 10 had the best broadcast locally, supplying the right mix of live coverage, analysis and discussion, as seen on both its own newscast, and the one it produces for WPHL. Admittedly, Tim Lake seems like he should be hosting Good Day Tampa Bay or some late night infomercial rather than a newscast. Also, there is something disconcerting about Renee Chenault-Fattah anchoring election coverage, seeing as how her husband is U.S. Congressman Chakah Fattah. It has the appearance of something not-quite-kosher, but hey, this is Pennsylvania politics, where pork is not a four letter word. And anyway these are only a few minor complaints about some informative and insightful coverage.
