Anyone else noticed how damn cold it is outside?

DiBruno Bros. is a really dangerous place for me. I visited their Center City location yesterday because I was in the neighborhood and I thought maybe I'd pick up some fresh pasta. I was planning on making a quick pomodoro sauce to go with it... and then I got inspired. What I ended up serving alongside the porterhouse steak I ended up buying at DiBruno's (not part of the original plan, but it just looked so good) still resembled pasta pomodoro in the end... only better. St. Patrick's Day is a day of hard-core drinking, but we often are hard pressed to find inventive green drinks that don’t use (gag) crème de menthe. The following tasty drink, which was the result of staying too late in a bar years ago, was one of the few I tasted that was created in honor of the day and stays respectful to taste buds and—bonus!—no hangovers or green tongues from cheaply dyed liqueur. The name is a double entendre paying homage to the Irish as well as the jigger, a small measure of liquid usually equalling one and a half ounces. Of course, you can make them stronger or weaker to taste.

Although the last thing Phillyist usually wants to eat when the heat index reaches 100°F-plus is hot food, it's summertime and we want to take advantage of all the fresh veggies we can find at the market right now. The following dish is best served warm, but if you leave the beans out, you can serve the recipe as a chilled pasta salad to great effect. As per the usual, we can't give you exact measurements for the ingredients you'll need. When we cook savory foods, we usually just eyeball it.
