  • Vandals pushed over more than 200 headstones at a historic African American cemetery in Collingdale, including the stone of famed Philadelphia civil-rights activist Octavius V. Catto.
  • Due to the recent loss of $1.4 million in federal funding, and accreditation problems, the Berean Institute, a North Philadelphia landmark that has provided vocational and business education to African-Americans for 109 years, could go out of business as early as Friday. The state is also evicting the school from the building it has occupied since 1973. Berean supporters are calling for a rally at the school at noon Thursday.
  • While pundits foam at the mouth debating who’s getting the black vote, the white vote, the women’s vote, and the young vote, Phillyist only cares about who’s getting your vote. The results from our People’s Choice Endorsement are in, and there’s no need to argue over superdelegates—Barack Obama is the winner by a landslide, with 68% of the vote. So much for the most recent professional poll results predicting a statistical tie between him and Hillary Clinton in the Pennsylvania primaries. Was it the bowling?

    • A posthumous tribute wall dedicated to singer/songwriter Elliot Smith sat defaced by graffiti for months on end -- LAist said enough, so did the fans and city council.
    • SFist was surprised to learn that chronic presidential candidate Ralph Nader picked former San Francisco Supervisor Matt Gonzalez as his running mate.
    • Phillyist explored the possibilities of green cleaning.

    What's new and/or interesting on TV this week.

    Over the last few days, Phillyist has breathed a sigh of relief that we no longer have the embarrassment of Terrell Owens hanging over our heads. No more impromptu, shirtless press conferences in his driveway, no more fist fights with his teammates, no more anything. Alas, the likes of Jesse Jackson and Ralph Nader have conspired against us -- both have called on the Eagles to turn the other cheek and let Owens back into the fold...or at least release him.
