For better or for worse, Phillyist isn't my day job. A quick glance at my bio will tell you that I work at a local communications firm. That means I do a lot of things, but most pertinent to this week's column, I do press outreach. I want people in the media to talk about my firm's clients. Not just newspapers and television stations, either. We want people to blog about our clients.

This holiday sure can suck if you haven't found that perfect partner, mistress, or craigslist missed connection to share it with. It's cool, don't resign yourself to an evening of watching Lifetime alone just yet, because BCKSEET Productions is gearing up for the third annual anti-Valentines Day concert/singer/songwriter competition.

This weekend, 13-year-old J.C. Paraskiewicz was presented the DAVID Seeds "Good Seed Award" at his home in Wilmington, DE. He's the only person even remotely near the local area who won the award, and he's one of only 18 people across the country who will win it this year. He received it for being a good ball-player, and a good person in his community (he's a boy scout and active in his church), and he now has a chance to win a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
