  • People are driving less, but rush hour still sucks, according to the Inquirer. Gee, thanks.
  • A split three-member panel of the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations dismissed a discrimination complaint against Geno's Steaks yesterday, ruling that the speak-English sign at the steak shop "did not convey a message that service would be refused to non-English speakers."

    If you ever look at our weekly theatre listings (and we hope you do!), you may have noticed that one local company has been conspicuously absent from the mix: the Philadelphia Theatre Company. They're starting their season off a little late this year so that the finishing touches can be made to their new home: the Suzanne Roberts Theatre on Broad and Lombard Streets.

    While SFist cringed at the fatal dose of crime littering the Bay Area, it found solace in Hillary Clinton's San Francisco campaign headquarters opening, which featured loads of exposed mammary glands. In other news, SF Taxi Commission ruled that Satan's cab must keep its (in)famous medallion number, 666; and in an un-fashion-forward frenzy, San Francisco Fashion Week (chortle) bars bloggers from covering and getting smashed at their shows and parties, respectively. Also, they found a picture displaying the woes of cruising in a tacky limo on the streets of San Francisco.

  • Head to South Philly for a great deal on gas tomorrow evening. The owner of the Sunoco station at 19th and Oregon, Dave Lalli, is getting out of the business after 23 years, and will be selling gas for $1.49 a gallon from 5PM until he runs out. The gas will come with a message; Lalli is leaving the business due to frustration with the industry's pollution and unfair pricing, and will be handing out information to all motorists who stop by about what we can do as a community about such things. Police will also be on hand to keep order, just in case.
  • The back of the bus gets to your stop at the same time as the front - so unless you're getting off in two stops or less, move away from the doors to make room for your fellow riders. (And if you're getting off in two stops or less, maybe you should consider eschewing the bus all together. Walking is excellent for your cardiovascular health.)
