The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you.

The saga of CBS 3’s Alycia Lane continues. She has been divorced twice, appeared on Dr. Phil, was romantically linked to WCBS anchor Chris Wragge, and of course infamously sent bikini photos to a married man. All of this seemed to make her one of the darlings of the New York Post’s Page Six column of late.

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you. The Onion A.V. Club has a wonderful feature: Let It Die: 23 Songs That Should Never Be Covered Again. Includes videos of particularly heinous covers of the songs in question. (Via) Pictures and video of a pretty impressive 10-foot-tall fan-made Optimus Prime costume. (Via Jason) We know it's fated to suck, but this trailer for the Iron Man video game sure...

A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you. Do you want to see a music video for the Gilbert & Sullivan version of "Baby Got Back?" Of course you do. (Via Sarah) Wow - turns out officer Chuck Cassidy and his shooting are the subject of an urban legend/email forward that already made it onto Snopes. (Via Debbie) Harmonix will send you a replacement for your busted Rock Band guitar if...

You know how we love the Reading Terminal Holiday Railroad. It's the holiday model train display that's set up annually just up the escalator from the Gallery, and when we see it going up, we know Christmas and the holidays are really on their way. You can see photos from the last two years' displays, and read us gushing about them, here and here. This year they've brought back more of the interactive elements...

The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you. Here's the fascinating story of how amateur sleuths solved the mystery of the missing remains of Czar Nicholas II's family members. (Via Jill) Just because the Thanksgiving holiday weekend is over doesn't mean we're out of fun Thanksgiving-related links for you. First of all, turns out it's probably not the turkey itself that makes you sleepy after the...

Phillyist still isn't used to it being pitch black when the work day is over, but the folks at the Center City District are giving us a night light, for this evening at least. Five buildings along the Avenue of the Arts (from City Hall down to Pine) will be lit up like a movie starlet's makeup mirror. These "murals of art" aren't all though: there will be entertainment on the Avenue as well as restaurant booths selling their wares at reduced cost (which is really the only way we'll be eating at Bliss on a random weeknight). The kick-off ceremony takes place at 5:30 in front of the Bellevue, but the food and entertainment run from 5-8.

Londonist got the big scoop of the week with what may be the first images of notorious street artist Banksy in action. They also got on a runaway train without an operator provoking a response from the transport authorities. Elsewhere, London's answer to Central Station is about to open for business, and Londonist got a sneak preview. Meanwhile, spooky goings-on beneath London Bridge, where a cache of skeletons provided an apt story for Hallowe'en.

  • A dude in Elk County, PA thinks he shot some photos of Bigfoot in the Allegheny National Forest, and the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization agrees; they say it's probably a juvenile sasquatch. But they're asking that the guy not reveal the exact location where he took the pictures, for fear that people will destroy the animal's habitat. Park rangers, btw, say it's probably just a skinny, mangy bear. (Via Jen)
  • Seriously, when William Congreve said, "Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast," he was really saying, "I've never been to a Bad Religion concert." When we saw Bad Religion over the summer, we knew there was a pit - hell, we took a picture of it. But the crowd was relatively small, and even so, we were in front of the pit, so we couldn't really see what was going on. Wednesday night, on the other hand, there was a sizeable crowd, and we were sitting above the pit, looking down on it. And oh, what a sight to behold. We tried to get some pictures of it, but none of them really came out. So you'll just have to imagine it. But trust us, it was big.

This week, Phillyist saw the waters of a landmark fountain run red for a Showtime marketing stunt, the Phils pull ahead, and some serious nostalgia. They also got a chance to review an awesome tribute album, reminded folks to see the King, and appreciated their beautiful skyline.

  • Four young men from Mantua were arrested yesterday for severely beating another man in the Citizens Bank Park parking lot during an August Phillies game. Their alleged victim had to be hospitalized with severe head injuries. The motive for the beating has not been released. The men were held last night in a Gloucester County jail awaiting extradition to Philadelphia.

In case you missed the eclipse and our pictures weren't enough, here's a video.

  • Earlier this spring, when the whole thing came out about the Philadelphia School District's budget problems, their chief financial officer and budget overseer resigned. But it's just now coming out that, despite the fact that she only worked for the district for two years, she left with a ridiculously good deal: she was paid for unused vacation time, will keep her benefits for a full year, and will be paid at full salary for an extra nine months. Sounds like the deal was put together by departing School Reform Commission Chairman James Nevels and was not approved by the full commission.

Once again, nothing new this week, as theatre companies and performers around the city prepare for the Live Arts and Fringe Festivals. Check back here next week for our preview. Meanwhile, to make up for the short listings, here's a longer quote, from 1930s and '40s star of stage and screen Nelson Eddy (the handsome devil you see here):

While SFist cringed at the fatal dose of crime littering the Bay Area, it found solace in Hillary Clinton's San Francisco campaign headquarters opening, which featured loads of exposed mammary glands. In other news, SF Taxi Commission ruled that Satan's cab must keep its (in)famous medallion number, 666; and in an un-fashion-forward frenzy, San Francisco Fashion Week (chortle) bars bloggers from covering and getting smashed at their shows and parties, respectively. Also, they found a picture displaying the woes of cruising in a tacky limo on the streets of San Francisco.

The Decemberists. Wow. We all knew they would be good, but I wasn't expecting them to be that good. Last Sunday's concert was amazing (besides the humidity). They instantly jumped into this Phillyist's top-ten-best-concerts list. For the record, Phillyist has given The Decemberists nothing but positive reviews: "easily one of the best live shows we've ever seen," and another stated, "It was our first Decemberists show, and it won’t be our last." We agree...
