That's right, the Soul Patrol is in town. Not really sure if Philadelphia needs any more soul, but I guess we can decide that tonight. I'll be honest, I am not really a fan of Taylor Hicks. I didn't vote for him nor do I agree with America that he should have won American Idol's Season 5. He's a good performer and singer, just not an "idol" to me. His part of the show should be entertaining with well-performed music even though his newly released album is contrived, boring, and a bit adult-contemporary. It's entitled Taylor Hicks. Original, don't you think? Tonight is really about his opening act, Toby Lightman. This is truly an artist who actually still has some soul in her.

With the upcoming release of Memory Man on March 13th, Aqualung is touring the Eastern U.S., stopping at the World Cafe Live on March 10th at 7:30pm. You might think that Aqualung is a band of some sort but it's really just one Englishman - Matt Hales - making beautiful music. Hales calls his music, "truthful, articulate, candid, poetic, sometimes beautiful and occasionally a bit strange." Just what we like. He writes, performs, sings...

About a month ago, Phillyist was reading star Mariska Hargitay was interviewed about her pregnancy and said two things she looked forward to about not being pregnant were the ability to take hot baths and eat sushi (probably not simultaneously). Now, we didn't know about the bath thing, but we looked it up and discovered that water over ninety-eight degrees is unfavorable to the pregnancy. But the fish thing: well, we'd heard a lot about this over the years and decided that as responsible food bloggers, we'd get you the facts.

...Name Game: Fresh off the news that Tom Cruise invented a new Hebrew word comes the news that he's renamed Katie Holmes. She will now be "Kate." Because "Katie" sounds too young for a "child-bearing woman." Shudder. (Via The Superficial.)

...Stupid: This isn't a stupid celebrity, so much as a stupid fan. A Kanye West fan showed up at the artist's Birmingham, England show sans ticket and decided that the best way to get into the concert would be by firing at the security guards in his way. (Via E! Online)
