WCAU newscast changes are officially in the works

On Monday, October 30th (that's two weeks from today) the first edition of the Northern Liberties' story slam will be taking place at Standard Tap (901 N. 2nd St.) at 7PM. The contest is currently searching for "Storytellers, fiction writers and BS artists" to make up their ten contestants. Contestants will have five minutes in which to tell their story, and will be judged by the audience based on both their "delivery and substance." Entrants pay a $5 fee, the proceeds of which go to the top three performers of the evening. If you'd like to participate, email them at LIBERTIESSCRIBBLERS [AT] GMAIL.COM.

  • Speaking of transportation problems, you should be aware that the El will not be running (due to reconstruction efforts) between 40th and 69th streets starting this Friday at 8PM until Monday, August 28th at 5AM.
  • The other weird crime epidemic currently terrorizing our fair city is getting shot in the butt. That article - which is cleverly entitled "Bunsmoke," and makes use of such lovely phrases as "buttocks blasting" - is of course from the Daily News, who suggest that this odd type of attack may be a new way for gangsters and drug dealers to hand out warnings. The Daily News also provides a handy run-down of each of the nine ass-shootings that have happened so far this year. Lovely. Anyway, everybody hang onto your butts.
