Fun around town, for $10 or less:

The thought occurs: Johnny Depp fourteen years ago looks a lot like Orlando Bloom today. Coincidence, or conspiracy?

“Can a computer game make you cry?”

Every Tuesday and Thursday, we'll be posting events that are going on sale during the current week. This Thursday post only collects the latest announcements, so definitely check the Tuesday post for any you may have missed.

Memorial Day weekend is filled with block parties, barbecues, picnics and family. If you get tired of your perverted Uncle or nosy Aunt, then head over to Tower Theatre to see Rocco Deluca and the Burden opening for Keane. Rocco Deluca and the Burden hail from Long Beach, CA and just released their debut album I Trust You To Kill Me. "Colorful," their new hit single, has wowed critics in both the magazine and...

Although the TLA's re-branding doesn't officially happen until tonight, Wednesday's show's venue was listed (on Phillyist and elsewhere) as the Fillmore at the TLA. That depressed us here at Phillyist. But then I walked in that night, and I've gotta say that, at least from an aesthetic point of view, I'm not nearly as sad anymore. There are wood floors and chandeliers and the the bathrooms (previously discussed in Royal Flush) are if they wanted to buy some more comfortable bar stools). And I know that I'll still probably call it the TLA anyway. Moving on to the show...

Yesterday, local radio station WXPN finally finished their playback of their list of the 885 Greatest Artists of All Time, as voted by the XPN community. You can see the entire list here, and make sure to check out this awesome entry on XPN's blog, which is packed with YouTube videos featuring vintage concert footage of the artists who made the top ten. Speaking of the top ten, here they are:

Here at Phillyist, we were really excited to have Farm Aid come to Camden. What a great idea! We are, after all, Jersey fresh. We were still excited to see the likes of Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews talk on Saturday morning about how important it is to support the family farmer, about how food corporations are monsters, about how the high calorie/high fat food we serve our kids is killing them, about how important it is to know where our food comes from.

We just got back from seeing rock legend Neil Young! Wooo! Not at a concert, though, sadly. No, this morning Mr. Young was down at the Reading Terminal Market, not giving a concert, but announcing one: Farm Aid 2006, to be exact. Neil and his friends Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews will all be performing, along with plenty other bands yet to be announced, at the "Camden shed," as Neil described it (that shed being the Tweeter Center) on September 30th.

Who doesn't like free movie tickets? We bet you don't not like them! And we've got two sets of two passes to see the new film Neil Young: Heart of Gold with your name on them. The film covers the world premier performance of Young's latest album, Prairie Wind, at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, a venue he'd always wanted to play. It's a concert film from a master maker of concert films (Jonathan Demme) about a master maker of music (Neil Young), and all you've got to do to go see it for free is email us here before Thursday, midnight with "Neil Young" as the subject line. Friday morning we'll pick two winners who'll each get two free passes (exact showtime and venue is negotiable, and will depend on the winner). It's that simple! So mail now, before it's too late.

What's new and/or interesting at the Philly movie theaters this weekend?

Phillyist loves a good list of things, especially a countdown of best things, and especially especially a countdown of the best music - there are few things that excite more controversy, argument, and occasionally even thoughtful and considered discussion. So Phillyist has been pretty much obsessed with 88.5 WXPN's list of the 885 All Time Greatest Albums, which they've been revealing over the last two and a half weeks (spin them up on your radio dial, or listen to their live stream here). The list was compiled based on top ten album lists sent in by listeners of the radio station (including yours truly), although how exactly they got from those lists to this one is a bit of a mystery to us; we assume it involved a blender.

Between the buyouts and the ridiculously large amounts of food in Philadelphia, bloggers have had their hands full. Here's today's look at the Philadelphia blogosphere:
