We recently shared our excitement over the prospect of getting to NYC on the cheap and comfortable: the semi-new bus routes set up to rival that bastion of Mid-Atlantic inexpensive travel, the Chinatown bus. We are deeply saddened to share with you the experience of QuizMasterChris, who had quite a surreal time whilst attempting to get to aforementioned Big Apple on Megabus, one of those “book early, get cheaper tickets” outfits. That didn’t quite work out for Chris and his girlfriend, who were silly enough to think that "reservation" meant that they had, well, a reservation to board and ride the bus that was supposed to take them from 30th Street Station to New York.

Oprah’s said it. The helpful Victoria Secret clerks say it. Our great-aunt Holly used to say it all the time: a well-fitting bra makes the woman. Today you can acquire said well-fitting brassiere and help raise money for breast cancer research at the same time at Fit for the Cure. Wacoal certified fitters will be on hand in the lingerie department at Macy’s Center City today from 11AM-5PM; for every woman who participates in a fitting of a Wacoal or DKNY bra, they will donate $2 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For every Wacoal or DKNY bra purchased, they will donate an additional $2. Unfortunately it does specify “every woman;” we were kind of hoping to head over with some guys and guilt them into trying something on “for the cause.” Oh, well, have to save that for a Saturday night at home…

Even though our Birds let us down this year, we’re still really psyched for the Super Bowl this weekend. In true Philly fashion we are rooting for the Giants, not because we like them that much (although the Q-back is our husband’s little brother), but because we’d love to see the Pats fail. Ahem. Anyways, this Saturday 24 current and former NFL players will offer up proof of their culinary prowess at “Taste of the NFL,” a charity event held in Phoenix to benefit America’s Second Harvest. Epicurious has all of the recipes up on their website, so’s to help you plan your Big Day nosh, but they’re also doing something really cool for Second Harvest: if you vote for your favorite recipe, they’ll donate $1 (up to $250,000) to the charity. In addition, the player whose recipe wins will get a wad of cash to donate to their local food bank.

With apologies to those readers who don't celebrate Christmas, I'm going to indulge myself a bit here. I love just about everything about Christmas. I actually enjoy Christmas shopping, stressful though it may be. (Which reminds me of the one thing I really don't love about Christmas: my January credit card bill.) I love all kinds of Christmas music, classical, the Bing Crosby standards, and Christmas rock. I also (Amazon).

I like this Top (Insert Your Number) thing that Phillyist has going right now. It allows you to write without a clear beginning-to-end narrative, something that comes in handy when you aren’t really watching the game that you are supposed to be “reporting” on. This week, I didn't have something as deathly important as getting my dog's photo taken with Jolly St. Nick. No, I blew the game off because my wife was having her family over for dinner. Now I like the in-laws, but, more importantly, I really like TACOS. The wife made some really delicious ones and I wasn’t going to let some game with “playoff” implications get in the way of my “Should I have beef or pork tacos” dilemma. It just really wouldn’t be fair to the family. That and the fact that I've officially graduated to the "don't really give an ass" mode of this season. But since I’m not going to let the fact that I didn’t really watch the game get in the way of a deadline, let’s start the fun and cheeriness!

A sad week for LAist as they lose their trusted and amazing editor Tony Pierce to the LA Times, but what a blast his last week was. He shared his 25 Favorite CDs of 2007 and wrote a great review of just a good movie, No Country For Old Men. At UCLA, thousands of students celebrated the end of their quarter by running around campus in their undies (lots of photos in a two-part photo essay, one, two). That wasn't the only photo essay either: Joss Whedon/Mutant Enemy friends and Star Trek actors all joined in at the Writers Strike and KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas brought two nights of amazing bands that included Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park (Part I), Modest Mouse, Muse, Spoon and The Killers (Part II). Not only is L.A. a great music town, it has just been named the best city for bookish types. For those who are looking for something a little more active, American Gladiators are back (yes!) and if that's not enough, how about a Christmas gift of action and adventure?
