Let's just say, heading into Sunday night's Mae concert at the Fillmore at the TLA, we didn't have the highest expectations. Former Phillyist and current SFist writer Spencer commented that he was less than impressed with Mae the couple times he'd seen him. Plus, we went to the show straight from doing our Barking Beauty Liveblog, and really, how could anything be better than that, right? On the plus side, one of our favorite......

We're gonna have a great day Sunday, and we really hope you join us for it. As you've heard by now, we're going to be liveblogging the Barking Beauty pageant. And from there, we're gonna be making our way to the TLA... err, Fillmore at the TLA... for the Mae show. Mae's most recent album, Singularity came out last summer, and while it's a little over-produced, it's certainly a strong effort and shows that......

Dear Penn: Merry Christmas. (Or, perhaps more appropriately, happy belated Chanukah.) You get some nice gifts this season? Maybe an endowment or two? A couple of mentions in The New York Times? Some national accolades coming your way? That's nice. I'm happy for you. What's that? You want to know what I got for Christmas? A couple of very thoughtful gifts, and a couple of checks from family members who figured that I'd rather......

With so many amazing concerts in such a short period of time, it's inevitable that you'll run into a few doozies. Unfortunately for me, that doozy was Sunday night at North Star Bar. Earlier in the summer, I saw the band MAE open for Ok Go and The Fray at the Tweeter Center. Their six-song set was fun and enjoyable, but not completely engaging. I faulted the venue, crowd, and the fact that MAE had......

On of our favorite shows this summer was the MAE/Ok Go/The Fray concert at the Tweeter Center. Imagine 25,000 screaming fans, perfect weather and awesome seats. It was incredible. Though we are a huge fan of intimate settings and up-and-coming bands, we enjoyed the huge crowd, music and overall feel of the outdoor concert. It really was the perfect way to start the summer. Now, we are fortunate to end our summer with an intimate,......

25,000 people packed into the Tweeter Center on Sunday night to see Mae, Ok Go and The Fray. Judging by how many people were there, I'm sure that some of you readers were there as well. I had a night that won't soon be forgotten. Treated like a royal, I was a escorted back to Mae's tour bus for an exclusive interview (look for it soon). I chatted, in the back of the tour......
