Every weekday of December (except for December 25, that is), Phillyist will be counting down to 2008 with our highlights from the past year and our predictions for the next. If you have a list you'd like to submit, let us know!

We at the Gothamist network would like to express our heartfelt wishes to the people of Minnesota in the days after their tragic bridge collapse. • Police are saying that 18-year-old Charles T. "Chuckie" Meyers was driving in South Philly on Saturday when he shot and killed a bicycle-riding 14-year-old boy when the boy wouldn't get out of his way fast enough. But friends and relatives of Meyers can't believe he would do such a thing.

Bike riding on city streets is a gamble -- the vast majority of city drivers refuse to share the road with bicyclists or pedestrians, and many of the side streets are giant pot hole-infested bike wreckers. And dishing out cab fare plus that extra 19.4% PGW rate hike means many of us will be living the life of a very poor hermit shortly.

Some Phillyist writers aren't down with the public nudity, but some of us dig it - if only because it makes for bizarre local news. Take, for instance, what happened today at 8th and Market:
