We are happy to announce the creation of our very own Twitter account: @Phillyist. Twitter is a free microblogging and social networking service. Users can update their status from the Twitter web site, popular instant messaging clients and SMS text messaging via mobile phone, not to mention a slew of third-party apps for various platforms. The purpose? Some would argue that Twitter and similar services like Jaiku only exacerbate an already intensifying addiction to "the grid." Phillyist isn't sure it's quite that sinister, so we've joined up to provide Twitter as one option of keeping yourself informed when we post a new story. We've set it up to send our headlines and a snippet of each post to Twitter when we update. Thanks to Annie Heckenberger, a Community Trailblazer at Red Tettemer, for taking the plunge and becoming our first follower!
