A Delaware man who thought it was a good idea to pull a little home-invasion roberry is facing charges of burglary, theft, and making terroristic threats after being caught while trying to escape and held at bay by his would-be victim and her neighbors until police could respond. That's the "good" home invasion story of the afternoon...
The city has proposed moving Police Headquarters to a vacant historic building in West Philadelphia. It would take $70 million to renovate the building, the former home of Provident Mutual Life Insurance Co. 'Cuz the City of Philadelphia has that kind of cash just layin' around, right?
The Philadelphia chapter of the Boy Scouts sued the city in federal court late Friday to prevent being evicted from its city-owned headquarters or being charged $200,000 a year in rent. Mayor Nutter said yesterday that he's astounded by their audacity. If you'll remember, the Scouts have been paying only $1 annually to lease a city building as their headquarters, but Nutter decided the city could no longer afford to subsidize the rent of a group that discriminates.
Not on the list: A man was assaulted and robbed on the El Friday night by three men wearing black wigs. For those keeping track at home, that’s three assaults around the El in the last 10 days. Mayor Nutter assures us that they are just isolated incidents.
