Maybe rebuilding the Sixers is the best thing to do, as the team has failed to progress in the last couple of years. And this season has been particularly abysmal. Despite all that Iverson has given this town - 4-time scoring champion while finishing in the top 3 every year since '99, 2-time leader in steals, 2001 MVP, rookie of the year, 2-time Allstar MVP, trip to the 2001 NBA Finals - his detractors will always say that his attitude was what prevented his talent from paying out bigger dividends.

You may have perhaps heard at some point this week that an NFL team known as the Dallas Cowboys is coming to town this Sunday night to play against our Philadelphia Eagles. You may also remember that said Cowboys have playing for them a fellow named Terrell Owens, who used to play for us. What does all of that mean? It means, as the AP so aptly puts it, that the T.O. circus is coming to town again. The Daily News is preparing with a brutal article full of "love" for Dallas; T.O. prepared by publishing his first children's book. We shit you not. Yeah, it was mostly ghostwritten by Courtney Parker, and the illustrations were done by Todd Harris, but it's T.O.'s name that's in big bold capital letters on the cover. The book is called Little T Learns to Share, and it's about a little boy "learning to share his new football with friends." T.O. says that for him the book is about "sharing with children the lessons he didn't learn as a child (and has had to painfully acquire as an adult)." Yeah, well, we're not so sure he's learned all those lessons quite yet. Anyway, we're hoping the Eagles can teach him one or two on Sunday night.

At first last night we got the queasy feeling that we were going to see a repeat of maddening Eagles' performances of the past, like the recent Giants game. The Birds were once again just not playing to their full abilities, and were slowly creeping towards losing what should have been a sure win. Poor time management (a perpetual Eagles problem), especially at the end of the first half, combined with bad ball-handling (boo Buckhalter!) and incomprehensible play calls (what was with that fake field goal?!) combined to ruin multiple scoring opportunities and leave the Eagles behind 9-7 at the beginning of the second half. But the birds came out of the locker room with a new outlook, energy, and determination, and instead of seeing a replay of the Giants game, we got to see the reverse: the Eagles limped and fumbled through the first half and utterly dominated the second. Donovan took matters into his own hands, rushing for some crucial first downs and even two touchdowns. A faltering Packers secondary and an inaccurate Brett Favre certainly helped. The Packers never scored again, and the Eagles ended up winning the game 31-9. In fact, Green Bay hasn't won in Philly since 1962; we're glad the Birds kept it that way. Now let's see if they can defend themselves against the hated T.O. and the hated Cowboys next week. Go Eagles!
