Phillyist likes supporting good causes, and you can’t get a better cause than breasts. Our lip service pales in comparison, though, to the efforts of five local women, who are raising money to participate in 2008 Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day this October. Each walker must raise $2,200 to take part in the 60-mile trek, and the women, collectively known as Team Bosom Babes, are turning to a time-honored Philly tradition to meet their goal: the Beef & Beer. Join them Saturday, along with WXPN DJ Robert Drake and local band The Modern Hypocrites, at the First Unitarian Church for an evening of music, food from Whole Foods, lots of Victory beer, prizes… and do it all knowing that you are supporting an important cause and allowing people to take part in a rigorous event that, let’s face it, most of us couldn’t hack.

You’ll have to wait until the end of the week to catch these babies, but trust us: they’re worth it.

Have your Valentine’s Day activities planned out yet? No? Us neither (and we really have no excuse). Luckily foobooz is looking out for you, or at least your stomach. They have an extensive list of eat-out options and specials, including many singles events, to get you through the (perhaps dreaded) day. Our favorite is the Puppy Love Valentine’s Party hosted by Devil’s Alley tomorrow night at the Painted Bride; $35 buys tickets for one person and one puppy, with proceeds going to PAWS. We’re also considering the My Bloody Valentine masquerade ball at Jose Pistola’s the night of, which has the benefit of costing $5. After all, money can’t buy you love. We’re guessing that you’ll have to do some major haggling to get reservations at some of the swanker places at this late date—but love don’t come easy (somebody stop us please).
