Fun around town, for $10 or less:

You guys picked the items in this list - which made this post a lot easier to write! And we thank you for that, because we're really kind of burning out on this whole "a list every weekday of December" thing. Why did we decide to do this again?

The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you.

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets.

We went through that whole teen angst punk rock phase during our adolescence. Really, who didn't? But we kinda figured it was over and that we were "too old" for that now. So when we got the opportunity to cover the Vans Warped Tour stop in Camden, we figured it would be a good chance to enjoy a little nostalgia over bands like Bad Religion and MxPx, but we remained somewhat skeptical about how much we'd enjoy the day. After all, it was going to be a hot day and we were going to be surrounded by concrete. And teenagers. We were going to covering bands that we'd never heard, and that were of a genre that we only occasionally listen to these days. But, we hoped for the best and dove on in.

We love when we get the opportunity to see a ton of bands in one shot. We love it even more when a couple of the bands are old favorites of ours and others are bands we've never heard of, because it gives us the chance to check out some new music, and if we don't like what we hear, we can always go back to the stuff we know and be completely satisfied. That's why we're pumped up for tomorrow's Vans Warped Tour at the Tweeter Center.

Sunday night, Counting Crows performed as if they were putting on a show for thousands of their closest friends. Maybe it was because there was family in the audience, or maybe it was because Wilmington was the first stop on their summer tour, but the band looked rested and sounded tight. A fitter, happier Adam Duritz (oh snap, accidental Radiohead reference) sang his way from one end of the stage to the other, connecting with fellow band members and the screaming audience. Not content to hold court front and center, he sang lyrics from atop speakers and seemed to be having a damned good time doing so.

I recently had the following late-night IM conversation with a friend (all sic):

Oh no! Chanukah ends tonight, and Christmas is only a few days away! What's a last-minute-gifter to do?

Facebook first reached Penn during first semester finals my sophomore year. I went on an “I will not sign up for this e-popularity contest” mission, which lasted for about two minutes. Then I joined. In the library. Where I was supposed to be studying. The site immediately ate my soul.

A few weeks ago, we noticed SFist's brilliant SFist Wants You to Find a Friend feature, and we decided hey, we'd like to do something like that too. And, since we already had connections with Cares4Pets, we thought they might like to help us get our own incarnation of this feature started. And so, we'd like to bring you the first edition of Phillyist's Potential Pets (sorry for the alliteration), starring Kelli Ann the black and white kitty.
