I've Got A Baby and Ten Dollars... Now What?

We focus on moms a lot in this column. Classes, events, support, its all for mommies, and with good reason. Carrying around a watermelon inside of your body for those last two months of pregnancy is hard work and we deserve a little extra love, especially from Philadelphia-based blogs. However, Father's Day IS coming up, and Phillyist thought it might be time for us to spotlight some stuff for dads. So here it is, tons of stuff to do for Father's Day, all for the price of a horrible tie and weird looking mug your dad will say loves and then "take to the office" where it will never be heard from again.

As a straight American man, I believe that the current ruling by California lawmakers to legalize gay marriage is a mistake that will ruin this great American nation of ours! Yet, as a straight American man, I am not allowed to disagree with what the liberal, New York, Hollywood, cheese-eating, French-speaking, Oprah Book Club Reading, media-istas say is acceptable.

If your dad is like most dads, deciding what to buy him for Father’s Day can be nearly impossible. Exactly how many ties does one man need? Do men even wear ties anymore? Here are some Philly-themed ideas to help make this Father’s Day a memorable one:

  • In case you were wondering, no, SEPTA transit police did not strike yesterday. About an hour before the 2PM deadline, negotiations began at SEPTA headquarters in Center City, and continued until about 10 before ending for the night. Nothing has been resolved, but they were scheduled to meet again at 9 this morning, which means they'll probably already be talking by the time you read this post.
