I Have A Baby and Ten Dollars...Now What?

There is A LOT going on in Philly this weekend for families. Let's just dive right in!

  • Philadelphia photographer, founder of phillyskyline.com, and friend of Phillyist Brad Maule has sued The Colbert Report, and the Philadelphia Daily News and Inquirer for using his photographs without permission. He is seeking $1.25 million in damages.
  • - Rescue crews had to pull a man out of the Delaware River yesterday, just after midnight (geeze, we know it was hot - but the Delaware? Ick.) Thankfully, he did not sustain any serious injuries.

  • There's a new restaurant opening in the city, in what's perhaps a rather unexpected spot: the Engine House at the Fairmount Water Works, below the Museum of Art. In fact, the Water Works Restaurant is really re-opening, after 25 years. It's all part of the renovations of the Water Works, which was built in 1815 as the nation's first municipal water works. Apparently the Water Works Restaurant is already taking reservations for dinner Friday night, so get moving if you want to be one of the first to try it out.
  • Mother's Day has Philadelphia origins, having been conceived by resident Anna May Jarvis, as well as recognized here first as an official holiday. We only feel the need to share these facts because this Sunday is Mother's Day (and if you're just realizing this now, Phillyist has to warn you that all the good Mother's Day cards are already taken), and we wanted to let you know there are some things happening around town to help keep you in Mom's good graces:
