Because we all need a break from that drama this morning.

That's what Billy Joel had before he went on stage last night.
Valentine's Day came and went. Roses were bought and hearts were filled and, probably, some were broken. Cupid choked a little on the rough city air and kept right on flying, gone for another year. Trash cans filled with empty cardboard hearts, once full of chocolate, now bereft of their rich and sumptuous treats.
...he'd be spinning in his grave.
We're not sure how you feel about it, but as far as we can tell gas prices and the horrible economy haven't deterred anyone from going down the shore. The beach is the place to be. Here’s what’s going on this weekend.

Phillyist is happy to welcome Erin Gautsche into the fray. Erin is currently the Program Coordinator at the Kelly Writers House, thus making her the former boss of Editor Jill. (Oh, how the tables have turned!) Erin joins the staff to cover local food, local beauty, and general local quirkiness, from a place of prestige on Miss Martha Graham Cracker's Top Eight.
Editor's Note: Phillyist has seen and enjoyed Puppet Karaoke before, but we thought it was time to revisit and reiterate. Also, you know how we love a good post about faux penises...
A computer science grad from Stanford and a Cisco Systems employee for two years, Vienna Teng left the programming world behind to pursue her true love. Trained at the piano since the age of five, Ms. Teng adds an overwhelmingly lovely voice to her playing, which is both beautiful and ethereal. Her influences range from classical to James Taylor to Elton John and Tori Amos. While it is easy to hear shades of Amos or Sarah McLachlan in several songs, Vienna's music stands well by itself. Her music envelops the listener as it calms and romances you. It's hard not to fall in love with her.
I can't believe this year is over. It has come and gone in a haze of concerts, martinis, deadlines, endings, beginnings, highs and lows.
...Stupid: This is why children shouldn't make movies. Movies should only have characters over the age of sixteen in them. (Via What Would Tyler Durden Do?)
...Valid Points: Elton John may be outspoken, but he might also be right. (Via Yahoo!)
We haven't been sleeping much lately. But we realize that the internet will still be there in the morning, so we're going to start at least trying for a pre-two a.m. bedtime.
Jamie Cullum's come a long way since playing Zanzibar Blue. Back in 2004, the tuck-away restaurant was his Philadelphia venue of choice to perform his modern jazz and pop stylings. Talk about moving up – last night, he, along with song bird Brandi Carlile, sold out the Kimmel Center.
