National Mechanics is about to learn what we already know: librarians know how to get down. We are indeed, as the copy notes, “rockstars who can read,” and contrary to popular opinion, we’re not all that quiet or shy. Come see for yourself at Dance Dance Library Revolution: Bibliodiscoteque tomorrow night from 9PM-2AM. The Desk Set will be in town for the ALA conference, and they’re bringing their dancing shoes with them. To join in the wild librarian debauchery, bring a new or gently used non-fiction paperback, a $10 cash donation, or a book of 1st class stamps to donate to Books Through Bars; they’ll get you a free drink for your troubles. If you’re really nice, they may tell you why Google isn’t always all it’s cracked up to be. Just don’t ask them to shush.

Every Tuesday and Thursday, we'll be posting events that are going on sale during the current week. This Tuesday post only collects the early announcements, so definitely check back on Thursday for the latest ticket news.

Free Chicago: Not the city - the band. They're giving a free performance at the Willow Grove Naval Base at 7PM. Directions and more info here.
