  • The employees of the Occupational Training Center in Mount Holly saved Christmas for one family. Faith Tyler, the daughter of an assistant project manager at the center, suffers from kidney failure. The family was struggling to pay the bills and Faith's illness had forced her father to take a leave of absence from work. His colleagues responded overwhelmingly - they pulled together and different departments "adopted" each of his five children. They bought gifts from each child's Christmas list. Faith Tyler said it was the best Christmas ever, except it didn't snow.
  • There was nothing else. A blanket of slate clouds shrouded the sun and blue sky. The misty fog which enveloped Lincoln Financial Field veiled most of the already irrelevant outside world. For those fans like myself sitting in the lower levels, not even the parking lot or other newly constructed sporting venues were visible. There was just this. No worrying about grocery shopping; no fantasizing of love interests; no wallowing in thoughts of returning to work the following morning. None of that mattered to those who had convened upon the stone sanctuary at 3501 South Broad Street. It would be sacrilegious for disciples of the Eagles to divert even an ounce of energy away from the game.

    You might have noticed that until today, there haven't been that many sports posts lately. There are a few good reasons for that. The first is that we don't put too much stock in preseason football. There's so much noise out there already that we don't have anything new or worthwhile to say.
