Six people were killed in Philadelphia yesterday, on the first day of summer. Three young men were gunned down in North Philly in the morning, two were killed and a third critically injured in Kensington in the afternoon, and the sixth person was shot to death in Kingsessing at around 10:30PM. That's 195 for the year now, if you're counting. Do any walking on the 1300 block of South Street? Then you probably already......

It seems like, all across the network, folks were up to no good. Maybe it was all the green beer from last weekend... Gothamist spent the week writing about New Yorkers behaving badly: at the post office, at the Garden, and at the fertility clinic. Calvin Klein may not be misbehaving, but he's just a little dirty, and in a completely different way than some NYC kitchens. SFist had its share of misbehave-rs, too, like......

In another case of Republicans getting caught with their pants down (literally this time), The Times Leader's Terrie Morgan-Besecke is reporting that former U.S. Congressman Joseph McDade, widely considered THE man in the Scranton Wilkes-Barre neck of the woods, allegedly exposed himself to several people by a resort pool in Sanibel Island, Florida on January 18. One witness said she thought that he "was a mental patient" because he made no attempt to hide his......

WCAU newscast changes are officially in the works The changes at NBC 10 are now official and, according to a press release from the station, will be rolled out over the next few weeks. The 4 p.m. newscast will be renamed “All That and More,” will be anchored by Tracy Davidson, and will focus on consumer issues. Vince DeMentri will anchor the 5 p.m. newscast, which will feature stories from The Philadelphia Inquirer that the......

There is a Congressman who has gained no small notoriety in the past year. The NRA has given his voting record an A+, NARAL an F. The left-leaning Committee for Reform and Ethics in Washington called him “one of the most unethical members in Congress.” Perhaps that’s why he raised more money from lobbyists than almost any other candidate for the House of Representatives; why he consistently opposes lobbying reform and disclosure requirements; why he......

Last night was obviously good for Pennsylvania Democrats, but precisely how good remains to be seen. They can claim already Rick Santorum's Senate seat, at least three--and maybe four--Congressional seats, and five state House seats. Locally, Democrat Patrick Murphy seems likely to pick up Pennsylvania's Eighth District with a razor-thin lead over Mike Fitzpatrick, but Fitzpatrick has yet to concede. In the Seventh District, Curt Weldon lost as expected to Vice Adm. Joe Sestak,......

Election night, NBC 10 had the best broadcast locally, supplying the right mix of live coverage, analysis and discussion, as seen on both its own newscast, and the one it produces for WPHL. Admittedly, Tim Lake seems like he should be hosting Good Day Tampa Bay or some late night infomercial rather than a newscast. Also, there is something disconcerting about Renee Chenault-Fattah anchoring election coverage, seeing as how her husband is U.S. Congressman......

People are already gathering at the Park Hyatt at Broad and Walnut to see President George W. Bush pimp his Strategy for Victory for Iraq. The sold out presentation to the World Affairs CouncilPresident's speech is due to start shortly before noon, will last approximately 40 minutes, and - at the insistence of the White House - will not have a 'question and answer' session following the speech. President Bush is not the only politico......

Who knew Pennsylvania politics would be touched by a crooked Congressman from California? Funds from Randy "Duke" Cunningham's (the Republican Congressman who admitted to taking over $2 million in bribes for defense contracts) political action committee found their way into the hands of several Pennsylvania Republicans. Two of them are getting rid of the tainted money. Rep. Jim Gerlach (he represents parts of Chester, Montgomery, and Berks counties) accepted $6,000 from Cunningham's PAC, but has......
