The Sixers weren’t able to pull it out against the Bulls, losing with a disappointing 100-97 score. Unfortunately it seems the Inqy is right: they’re not such a great team this year. The Flyers made up a two-goal deficit in the third period and got the game against the Bruins into overtime; sadly, overtime lasted 43 seconds and gave the win to Boston with a score of 4-3. The boys did better on the......

From the very start of the off-season, Philadelphia Flyers GM Paul Holmgren has been aggressively and effectively re-tooling a franchise in need of a do-over. In other words, the current team is the product of a plan that seems a little too smart for the Flyers, with one transaction win coming after the other. The orange and black have always been able to bring in big names, but have they ever been this good at......

What's new and/or interesting on TV this week. Philly Sports (Mon, 7PM-10PM, ESPN2 & CSN) - You can flip between Comcast Sportsnet and ESPN2 Monday night and watch two different Philly sports teams battle it out. On ESPN2, it's Arena Football with the Soul at Chicago, and on Comcast Sportsnet it's the Phillies at the Braves. With two Philly games going on at the same time, there's a better chance one of them will win!......

What long, strange game it was at RFK last night. What matters most is the results: after 14 innings, the Phillies topped the Washington Nationals, 8-7 in 14 innings. It wasn’t a pretty game, either. The Phils gave up the lead twice late in the game, and left a gaggle of base runners stranded, going 5 for 22 with runners in scoring position. The Phils are still one game behind the Los Angeles Dodgers......

Another not so hot night for the Phils. They failed to capitalize on those little things called “base runners,” and fell to the Washington Nationals, 4-3. Normally, we wouldn’t think much about two losses in a row, but that’s a big step back in a now ultra tight wild card race – only five games are left. The Phils and Nats square off again tonight at 7:05 p.m. Catch the game on Comcast Sports......

As we feared would happen, Philadelphia-based Comcast's proposed merger with Adelphia Communications won approval Thursday from the Federal Communications Commission without forcing Comcast to make CN8 and Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia channels available to customers of satellite TV and non-Comcast cable systems. For a moment, we became optimistic when we read this Bloomberg article which reported that "as a condition of approval, the FCC required the buyers to offer some of their regional sports networks......

by Jonathan Tannenwald We were perusing the Ist-a-verse recently and came across this post from our bretheren in D.C. that piqued our interest. There's a classically Washington finger-pointing spat going on down there between Comcast and Congress, over the fact that the Philadelphia-based cable network refuses to put the channel that has the rights to most Washington Nationals games on its cable systems. This has been going on since before the 2005 season, the Nationals'......

The Philadelphia Phillies will announce today at 4 p.m. that they have fired General Manager Ed Wade. Since we only get happy when bloggers get fired (or, you know, win Pulitzers), we're pretty so-so about this... Oh, who are we kidding? We're pretty excited that the Phillies have finally canned Wade. Sure, it feels wrong to delight in something like this, but Wade has been in charge for 8 years with a growing payroll, but......

The Philadelphia Phillies will start their final series of the regular series tonight when Corey Lidle takes the mound against the Washington Nationals. The Phillies must sweep the series if they have any hope of making the playoffs. Even if they do that, the Phillies need some help: the Astros have three games remaining at home against the Cubs. If the Phils sweep, the Astros need to lose two of their next three in order......

As the Flyers practice without the injured Peter Forsberg and the injured Derian Hatcher, we have to get our hockey fix in other fashions since Comcast Sportsnet inexplicably doesn't cover preseason hockey practices in HD. And so, McSweeney's Internet Tendency steps to the plate and delivers the latest installment in their hockey series, The Philadelphia Flyers Have A Time Machine. There are four other installments (1, 2, 3, 4) and they are all as inspirational......

The Sixers, in the wake of re-signing free agents Kyle Korver and Willie Green, finally sealed the deal with their top priority, center Samuel Dalembert. The six-year deal will reportedly pay Dalembert something in the range of $60 to $80 million dollars. Dalembert is regarded by many as a project still in the works, but one that has already paid great dividends. Dalembert still needs to work hard on his offensive game, but on the......
