Chris Illuminati at phillyBurbs.com wrote to let us know the Philadelphia Business Journal is reporting today that "Organic burger chain Elevation Burger plans to open eight restaurants in the Philadelphia market." We at Phillyist are completely pro-organic, free-range foodstuffs, but we'd like to take this opportunity to remind you all that the food will still be high-fat and fried. Eating organic may be better for you overall, and it's certainly better for the environment, but five Elevation burgers a week won't be any less likely to result in a quadruple bypass than five Five Guys burgers would be. That being said, we're excited about the prospect of another place to get our beef on.

Last Friday, we mentioned that friend-of-Phillyist Chris Illuminati was competing in the semifinals of Broken Pencil's Indie Writers Deathmatch 2009. Thanks, no doubt, to many of you, Chris managed to advance in the finals, securing his place by a single vote. Said final round ends at midnight on Sunday, so take a few seconds to support Chris (who's currently trailing 48% to 52%). Remember: you're allowed to vote once an hour, so set yourself a timer and vote often. Because, after all, you've gotta support the home team.
PhillyBurbs.com blogger and friend-to-Phillyist Chris Illuminati (yes, that's his real name) is in the fight of his life right now (okay, so he's had an easy life), competing for a top spot in Broken Pencil's Indie Writers Deathmatch 2009. So far, Chris has beat out one worthy competitor, but he'll have to beat another to make it to the finals, and his huge lead has narrowed over the past few days. He's still winning by a more-than-respectable 14 points, but in the final days of the semifinals, the score can shift quickly. So click on over, take 30 seconds to register, and show some Philly pride by voting for Illuminati. He'd do the same for you.
Chris Illuminati at phillyBurbs.com has some important news for us: today is Squirrel Appreciation Day. (We're talking to you, Britain.) So today, why not head to Rittenhouse Square or College Green on Penn's campus and do some squirrel watching? Nothing shows appreciation like voyeurism.
We'd like to thank Chris Illuminati at phillyBurbs.com for calling us one of Philadelphia's ten best websites, where we're joined by such local luminaries as Philadelphia Will Do, Foobooz, Geekadelphia, and Overheard in Philly. Chris has promised us a month's supply of home-churned butter as a prize. We need it soon, Chris: we just invited Paula Deen for dinner!
