The Jersey Shore in Manhattan? The Jersey Shore Store is open in NYC until July 6 to help travelers book vacations to Atlantic City. It's the perfect tie-in too because trains are now available from Penn Station to Atlantic City on Aces.
Neal Dandade is one of my heroes. Luckily for me, unlike most people's heroes, I know mine. Quite well, actually: Neal and I go back ten years and two thousand miles to Coronado High School in El Paso, Texas. We acted together then, and now I'm lucky to get onstage once a year, but Neal is doing it professionally, performing with a number of improvisational and sketch comedy groups in the Chicago area—including the career-launching Second City. As you'll see from his interview below, improv is a natural fit for Neal, who sometimes thinks so fast it's hard to keep up. ("He was always so bright," as Mamaist put it.) You may actually have seen some of his work: know those Boost Mobile commercials with the rapping George Washington? Neal actually originated the jingle (but hasn't, as of yet, been given any credit for his work).

Screen tees, message tees, whatever you want to call them - you either love 'em or hate 'em. The shore is no better place to stock up on some of your favorite t-shirts, or poke fun of the ones you'd never be caught dead in. Wildwood is especially famous for having its fair share of ridiculous t-shirts. Save Britney, O so Textual, and Pale is the New Tan, are just some of the ones you'll see this year. And, it appears that some of the new t-shirts are even taking a political stance, according to this article from the Inquirer. Go make a fashion statement, and have a great weekend down the shore.
In part, Barack Obama’s speech at Constitution Center denounced comments made by Reverend Jeremiah Wright in a 2003 sermon. The Illinois senator also tried to redeem his own credibility as a political figure, as well as the credibility of his church as a legitimate religious institution. Sorry, folks. No diary today. Simply put, now is not the time for witty jokes and non sequiturs about my English Bulldog or P.J. Harvey’s latest work. I am not even going to ramble on about how brilliant Radiohead’s latest album is, and how they make overrated, whiny droners like The National look like rank amateurs. Sometimes one must discard structure, and get their rant on…and this is one of those times.
When we get press releases about bands we've never heard of, we'll occasionally contact our friends in their cities of origin to see if the bands are worth catching when they come through Philly. Chicago-based band OFFICE is one such band. We talked to a friend of ours who used to write for Chicagoist, and he told us that we had to, had to, had to, catch OFFICE, because they were bound to go places, and we needed to check them out before they got too big.

Protest over national vs. regional chains, the never-ending debate over the place of cars and bicycles in our metropolises, professional sports scandals, remembering a solemn day, and being issued a search warrant - it all happened across our sites this week!
There was very little else for Londonist to be concerned with when the threat of a Tube strike became a very unpleasant reality. The inconvenience was extreme: there aren't many alternatives to the Tube in London despite the best efforts of the Londonist team to get everyone from A to B. Brighter news came in the form of the first ever female Yeoman Warder, or Beefeater as the position is more commonly known, and several smiles as well as lots of cash were raised by some plucky urban ironing. London is apparently full of lies and whales: one of these things is true. We leave that up to you to figure out.

Chicagoist is gearing up for this weekend's annual Air & Water Show along the lakefront. In what's becoming an annual tradition around there, staff member Todd McClamroch even got to fly with one of the participants. Chicagoist's decidedly opinionated readership was also appalled that one of their staffers found a popular local brewpub to be a great place to bring a kid. They also think that an unlikely activist for immigration rights should just take her medicine and offered their own suggestions to how the city should capitalize on the local music scene. And everyone thinks that a suggested tax on bottled water is a great idea.

We at the Gothamist network would like to express our heartfelt wishes to the people of Minnesota in the days after their tragic bridge collapse. We're not trying to discount the severity of the accident by making note of it in opposition to our usual -Ist lightheartedness – we just wanted to take a moment and recognize those affected last week.
This week ended with the launch of the seventh and final Harry Potter installation. But while the world was consumed with Pottermania, it's important to remember that there were more serious things going on in the world, too – two of them in -Ist cities.
LAist was comped front row seats by the Dodgers due to Malingering being struck by a foul ball last week, and she came back with some great photos, and earlier made fun of 4th of July on Venice Beach. But the biggest stories of the week was that the Mayor's Hot Tamale was revealed, and that a Kwik-E-Mart was erected in Burbank.
