Finally! The Day of Days, only hours away from the Hour of Hours, when the bright and beautiful dawn of the Weekend shall arise above our spellbound eyes, pushing the darkness and decrepitude of the week deep into the recesses of distant memory! Huzzah! Huzzah!

Is it First Friday again already? We had so much fun at the last one that we're not sure what time we finally got home. We do remember drinking plenty of wine and eating plenty of cheese. We even remember making some impulse purchases. Oh, and fawning over an artist that we've always admired, thereby probably frightening her a good deal. R5 Productions is offering not one but two all-ages punk rock shows this week at the First Unitarian Church (22nd and Chestnut Streets) - named, very cleverly, Holidays In The Slush Day #1 and #2. Each show features five acts from all over the world, including some acts (The Boils and Mischief Brew) from our own fair city. Holidays in the Slush #1 begins at 7:30PM Friday night and has an admission fee of $10. Slush #2 begins at 2:30 PM the next day - and has a slightly less frugal fee of $12; however, we did notice that participating band, Dillinger Four, promises "melodic naked punk mayhem" and "psychotic naked behavior from Patty", and we all know nudity will cost you extra. Former solo-project- turned- "psych-rock quartet" Why? will be playing tonight The First Unitarian Church (2125 Chestnut Street). Fronted by Yoni Wolf (also of cLOUDDEAD and Reaching Quiet), Why? is described as "folk-pop," "indie-hop" and "sometimes mustachioed." (And, as we all know, it's the facial hair that really makes-or-breaks a band.)

Sure, we're historic, but are we haunted? Ghost Tour of Philadelphia seems to think so. Sure, they provide tours year round - but what better time than near All Hallow's to discover our historic haunts by candlelight?
