  • Chelsea Clinton was at Penn yesterday, stumping for her Mom, and said we should expect to see her and her family a lot in the near future. Which sounds like a threat to us. Beware, Philadelphians! They're coming! Watch the skies! Keep watching the skies! (BTW, in a related story, voter interest is surging in Pennsylvania suburbs.)
  • The saga of CBS 3 anchorwoman Alycia Lane has gotten even stranger. The Daily News reports that her first call upon release from NYPD custody was to Governor Edward Rendell. A spokesman for the governor,Chuck Ardo, said to the paper that she did it to "make sure he knew her side of the story because he is an opinion-maker and runs around in influential circles." And "I think she knew better than to ask him to intervene." Ardo also made it clear that the governor's office was not going intervene in the case.

The saga of CBS 3’s Alycia Lane continues. She has been divorced twice, appeared on Dr. Phil, was romantically linked to WCBS anchor Chris Wragge, and of course infamously sent bikini photos to a married man. All of this seemed to make her one of the darlings of the New York Post’s Page Six column of late.

Über-celebrity that he is, one has to keep in mind that Beckham’s best playing days are behind him. As of today, it seems doubtful he’ll see any playing time with Real Madrid’s first team during the remaining 6 months of his contract with the Spanish side. Though it was growing ever more unlikely that he could ever play for England again, this move finalizes his international career with absolute certainty. A veritable elephant graveyard for former world superstars, the US is where great soccer players come to die. Though this was done before, one has to remember that it was with far greater footballers than Becks. All time greats Pelè and Franz Beckenbauer played on the all-star studded New York Cosmos in the 70s and despite their ability, stardom, and combined World Cup wins, soccer never quite took off here.

The energy in the Theatre of Dreams will swell to an electrified cacophony this Sunday as Manchester United hosts Chelsea in a battle for Premiership dominance. Three points ahead of Chelsea, Man U hopes to extend their lead and eventually run away in the standings as Chelsea, the league winner the previous two seasons, did a year ago.
