We've already mentioned this story. And we likely will again. But seriously, look at this poor cat. Who does something like that? And don't most serial killers start with animals? Shudder.

In case you had any doubt left that analog TV was dead...

We agree that this is a cool tour for tourism—but for locals, will it just lead to laziness?

This Phillyist would be a-okay with never flying in a thunderstorm (even though we know it's really not unusual).

Fumo Juror Microblogged Trial, Deliberations

Updated Information Below.

  • Sunday was another sad day for the Eagles, as they lost to the Baltimore Ravens 36 to 7. In fact, Donovan McNabb was benched for the first time ever after a first half in which he completed only eight of 18 passes for 59 yards and was intercepted twice.
  • No, not the Phillies.

  • Philly.com has detailed coverage of the murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Patrick McDonald and its affect on the community.
  • A couple of unrelated incidents involving firearms took place early yesterday morning in Philadelphia. In the first incident, a retired Philly cop working as a pizza delivery man was accosted by three teenagers, one of whom pointed a gun at him while the other two went through his pockets. But the retired cop was able to reach into his pocket and pull out a semiautomatic Glock, which he had a permit to carry. He shot the boy with the gun once in the chest, killing him. The other two would-be robbers ran off. The deliveryman will most likely not be charged in the incident. A few hours later, officers approaching a group of robbery suspects thought they saw a gun in one of the suspects' waistbands and told him to freeze. He reached for the weapon and one of the officers fired his gun into the sidewalk, causing bullet fragments to strike the 17-year-old suspect. He's in stable condition, and a 14-year-old was also apprehended, but the third suspect ran off.
  • Lawrence Scott Ward, 65, a former marketing professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, is already serving a 15-year sentence in federal prison for trafficking in child porn, but yesterday new child porn charges were lodged against him.
  • The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

  • A 50-year-old Phoenixville man tried to break into a Chester Township general-contracting company off I-95 over the weekend, possibly to steal scrap metal. We know this because he was found yesterday morning hanging by his neck from the garage window. He had apparently stood on a sawhorse and poked his head through the window looking for a latch when he slipped and snapped his neck.
  • Thanks to Phillybits for making this week's submission easy for us. (CBS3 has since changed the story's headline, but it was good while it lasted.)

Is this considered a conflict of interest?

  • A man has been arrested in connection with the attack on a woman in a City Avenue motel room last week, and it's 19-year-old Joseph Vignola Jr., whom local television stations are reporting is the son of Joseph C. Vignola, a former city councilman and controller and well-known city political figure.
  • Once in a while, Proofreading Philly turns into Fact-checking (Phact-checking?) Philly, and this is one of those times. We just wouldn't be responsible bloggers if we didn't correct CBS 3's error on a favorite blogosphere topic, Star Wars. While the article has been corrected (without acknowledging the original error—how unprofessional!), we just had to post this screengrab, courtesy of Eric and Editor Jim, of the article on the day it published. Because when you can't be bothered to look at IMDB or Wikipedia to confirm a date, you deserve to be called out for it.

More information on that guy who wanted Obama's photo and made Philadelphia look so good in the national news.

We couldn't make it out to this one, but at least it's on YouTube!
