The last time I saw Cat Power perform was the first and only time I saw the entire Trocadero fall in love at once. Her voice and her persona could only be described as haunting yet powerful. Some people showed in the hopes that she'd fall apart, as she has been wont to do, but a lot happens in a decade. Much more centered by the time The Greatest dropped, Chan Marshall prowled the stage like a sexy animal that was caged no longer.

We already mentioned in an earlier post that the unconventional Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There gets released today. Although the soundtrack of the film has been out for some time, we thought we'd take this opportunity to review it - especially seeing as how it's a review copy of the album that we've been listening to and all. This morning, the first thing we thought to ourselves upon waking up was, “Fucker’s twat.”

A church isn’t the first place that comes to mind when thinking of indie concert venues. However, the First Unitarian Church proved to be a wonderfully mellow venue for the Tall Firs and Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton. With the altar pushed to a back corner of the stage and the audience calmly seated in pews, the setting provided an intimate, contemplative, and serene atmosphere for the bands to come.

I can't believe this year is over. It has come and gone in a haze of concerts, martinis, deadlines, endings, beginnings, highs and lows.

Our iPod gave us ADHD. We find our mind is ready for the next song when there's still :36 left on the current song. We usually try to fight the power, giving each song the respect it's due, but not today. Maybe it was the rain as we drove into work earlier, but we felt the need to map out how our mind jumps from song to song.
