Phillyist is pleased to announced that we were chosen to be the Philly representative on Filter's TourZine and Official Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Tour Guide. We're taking over from Music Snobbery, who did the review of the New York show, and we'll be passing things off to Metro Distortion, who will cover tonight's show in Washington, DC. So here's our official review of BRMC's show last night. Woo hoo!

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (MySpace) is not an association of big tattooed dudes who like to ride around on two-wheeled vehicles. It's a kick-ass indie rock band that you need to get to know if you haven't already. A good place to start is their latest album, released about a month ago, called Baby 81. There are a handful of tracks on this one that are just good indie pop/guitar rock songs. The rest are divided between very good and totally excellent. All of them are full of driving guitars, smooth vocals, and head-banging hooks. A couple of our favorite tracks are the sexy "Berlin" and the epic rock masterpiece (clocking in at just over nine minutes) "American X." But another of our favorites is "Weapon of Choice," which we'd like you to check out for yourself; listen in Windows Media, QuickTime, or Real Media formats.

We told you it was coming back in July; later, we warned you when voting had begun. And today, finally, local radio station WXPN's list of the 885 All Time Greatest Artists has been compiled and locked in, and the playback has begun. Today and tomorrow XPN will still be running their Fall Fund Drive, which means they're pretty agonizing to listen to live, but you can keep up with what's going on countdown-wise on XponentialMusic.org, or on the All About the Music Blog.
