BBC America has instilled in us a love of all the accents of the British Isles – not just the ones you see on Masterpiece Theatre. A few years ago, we became quite enamored with a show called . It didn't stay on very long (apparently Americans don't get jokes about feudalism!), but it did make us realize that we rather enjoy Welsh accents. And lucky us, because tonight, we can get our fill of them at North Star Bar when The Automatic Automatic (MySpace) take the stage.

Holy smokes! Giant fish on the MTA, Paris Hilton in jail, then out, then in again, Al Gore, goatses, blumpkins, Matt Damon, and baby art critics! It's been a busy week across the Ist-A-Verse, and here's a smattering of what's been going on.

Every so often I might wander over to CNN. But just to glance the top headlines. To catch up if I've been out of touch - I don't own a TV. Mostly though, even that duty has been relegated to MSN and even, the BBC.

Normally we wouldn't be particularly interested in a kids' cartoon movie about a sheltered pet rat getting flushed down the toilet only to land in the middle of a whole city of rats, and a dangerous adventure he never could have imagined. But this movie was made by Aardman Animations, and we love Aardman Animations. These are the guys responsible for the classic stop-motion, clay-animated "Wallace & Gromit" shorts, as well as Chicken Run, and the recent Wallace & Gromit movie. They have a wonderful visual style and sense of humor, and even though Flushed Away is done using computer animation instead of the classic clay, both their style and humor come through effortlessly intact. Sometimes the characters even seem to be made of some magical, digital clay.

You know who's going to be upset about those Bikini Bandits? The Houston school system. Houstonist also reports on some redevelopment shenanigans over a landmark theater.

Phillyist is always looking for books to improve ourself. We recently found two such books, and feel honor-bound to share them with you, dearest readers. Both books are out now and should be available at any major book shop in town. So get dolled up and go shopping, because dears, we all NEED these books.

...Philadelphia Recognition: Jodie Foster, Phillyist's graduation speaker, actually gave quite a good speech, and what you can't hear in the clip is all the Penn grads singing along with her. Superficial, you disappoint us. (Via The Superficial)

LAist has so much fun this week! They go to E3, where they overhear the timeless remark "Man, this is where nerdy girls get laid." Is that a promise? They also give us this week's best CDs and make us realize that LA is the best place to use Zillow.

...Anarchy: Apparently, the Clash were really just advocating terrorist attacks. (Via The BBC)
