What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend.

Starting tonight, have a fling in Fairmount. From Thursday through Sunday the neighborhood is a francophile's delight, with activities scheduled each evening in honor of Bastille Day. This Phillyist will be starting the party tonight with the Fairmount French Fling Bar Crawl, which begins at 7 at Aspen. We're sure by the time we get to the seventh and last bar, we'll remember all of our high school French, or at least the important phrases,...

Our mother woke us up yesterday to warn us that Philly would be experiencing extreme heat (92+ degrees with high humidity). Fortunately, the life of a Phillyist is an indoor one: staying inside, with air conditioning, reading all of our sister sites.

Today is Bastille Day! This is a national holiday for our sister site, Parisist - but it's important to Phillyist too. Sure, we don't get off from work in honor of French Nationalism, but we still get to see the storming of the Bastille. Well, ok, it's Eastern State Penn - but we get to pretend it's Bastille...guillotine and all.

You would think we would be all Frenched out after the launch of Parisist. You, of course, would be right. But we don't like sleep all that much, so you'll see us at the Eastern State Penitentiary on Saturday. We won't be there for jail, obviously, even though mom does say we're "so cute it's criminal."
