By now the art season is in full swing, and this month's First Friday openings bring a host of interesting new shows to the city's galleries and assorted art spaces.

There's still time to RSVP for The Creative Collectors Event tonight at The F.U.E.L. House. The event will feature a gallery talk about starting an art collection with guest speaker Susan Jansen of O.D.E. Fine Art as well as a Q & A session with a select group of artists featured in the current show, "Fall Collection." You can preview the show here.

First Friday gallery openings return in force to the city as the "new" art season unofficially starts with the September openings. We've already told you about Northern Liberties' Projects Gallery opening its exhibition season with Fresh! 2008. This invitational exhibition includes an impressive number of the city's emerging artists, including many recent graduates from various art programs. The First Friday artists' reception is tonight, from 6-9 p.m. Projects Gallery is located at 629 N 2nd St at Greene Street in Northern Liberties.

When Phildelphia artist Erika Risko's work was exhibited at the 2008 Moore College of Art & Design's Senior Art show, it hung as the artist intended and as shown to the left.

Time again for First Friday gallery openings and receptions, and time to get crawling from gallery to gallery for a sip of wine, an eyeful of new artwork, and hopefully the chance to add some good artwork to our collections. First Friday is hard to beat as a once-a-month must-do for art lovers, art collectors, artists, and even tourists.
