I checked out Toronto's own The Midway State on Thursday, Jan. 31 when they opened the kickoff of MIKA's American tour. I was...confused. I liked the band well enough, I suppose. I mean, I like Ben Folds and Snow Patrol and Coldplay...kind of, and The Midway State sounded like pretty much an amalgamation of all three, with the occasional smattering of Aqualung thrown in. In the entirety of their half-hour set, though, I found......

They’re responsible for a half decade of pretty, meta-melodic British acts like Keane, Aqualung, and that band that was burned as the answer to the question, “You know how I know you’re gay?” It’s been quite some time since Travis has been an active name in music. More recently, they’ve been getting less attention as influencers, and more for their new album The Boy with No Name. It’s been 3 years since their last record,......

After our interview with Aqualung, we were sure that the live concert couldn't be better than his new CD Memory Man, which is being released today. It was, but in a different way than expected. The ingenuity and creative aspect of his CD is truly incredible. You can tell that he as a gift with music and sounds. Aqualung has definitely reinvented rock music for a new generation. He uses a variety of instruments......

With the upcoming release of Memory Man on March 13th, Aqualung is touring the Eastern U.S., stopping at the World Cafe Live on March 10th at 7:30pm. You might think that Aqualung is a band of some sort but it's really just one Englishman - Matt Hales - making beautiful music. Hales calls his music, "truthful, articulate, candid, poetic, sometimes beautiful and occasionally a bit strange." Just what we like. He writes, performs, sings......

How would you describe the typical Jethro Tull fan? Well, middle-aged, for one. Phillyist has been able to drink legally for several years now, but we were still probably the youngest fan in the audience not dragged there by their parents. And white -- definitely white. We counted three ethnic minorities in the audience, ourselves included, and two of them were in our party. The band is composed of middle-aged white guys, so it's......

No, not the shopping mall. See, it's a Tull show, and they have this song called Minstrel in the Gallery, and we're Phillyist, and we're going to be in... nevermind. Tonight at the Keswick, rock legends Jethro Tull are bringing their folky, bluesy, hard rockin' sound to town. For those of you who might have been living under a rock for the last thirty years, Jethro Tull is the name of the band, not a......
