What's new and/or interesting on TV this week. Paranormal State (Mon, 10PM-11PM, A&E) - The debut of a new reality show featuring members of Penn State University's Paranormal Research Society investigating reports of paranormal phenomena. During this hour, they seem to be playing two episodes, one about a boy who can supposedly see dead people, and another about a supposedly haunted house where murders were committed. Independent Lens (Tue, 10PM-11:30PM, WHYY) - It's another Penn...

LAist began the month with a new food series exploring the popular and unknown late night eats around town. If a Top Chef winner opened up a late night spot in Los Angeles, denizens would flock it, yet the LA Times and other media might be wary. Turning to sports, the Dodger season was quite memorable in the way that it imploded and the LA County Sheriff's Department made some games of their own such as "Operation Any Booking," where the object was to arrest as many people as possible within a specific 24-hour period (some might suspect these cops can be found on HotChicksWithDoucheBags). The crazy stories continue in an interview with Brandon D. Christopher, author of Dirty Little Altar Boy, and a Santa Monica College Professor being blamed for the Burma web blackout.

This week we'd like to congratulate the -ist network's Mother Hen, Gothamist's Jen Chung, who found herself a recipient of Wired Magazine's Wired Rave Award. If that doesn't sound terribly exciting, keep in mind another recipient was J.K. Rowling. Yep, that's right, the -ist network and Harry Potter now have something in common. Go us.
As everyone watched Haley Scarnato get her ass kicked off American Idol last night, we were at The Tower Theater watching Toby Lightman's kick-ass show. She was so good we forgot who she was opening for. Oh yeah, Taylor Hicks, the winner of American Idol's fifth season, and better known as The Soul Patrol. Toby Lightman, a native of Cherry Hill, NJ, rocked the house last night showcasing songs from her new album, Bird...
This week's quote comes from Sir Francis Bacon, and reads in full: “But men must know, that in this theatre of man's life it is reserved only for God and angels to be lookers on.” Now, on with the listings!
We don't know about where you are, but it seems like spring can't decide whether or not to happen. Some days are warm, some days are cold, and sometimes you aren't sure which. Baseball may have started up (and soccer/football winding down) but it still seems cold out there. Unless it's not. Anyways, onto the -ists.

I have a serious literary crush on Tony Kushner. Blame come hell or high water.

Dear José (a.k.a. skeevy International House Café Passage Guy):
Lanford Wilson is a great playwright who is sometimes a little difficult to produce. There's a lot of depth and subtext to his plays that are challenging to capture. When a production nails Wilson's script, they really nail it. When they fail, the results can be embarrassingly dull. But more often than not, productions of Lanford Wilson plays fall somewhere in the middle. And, for better or worse, that's where the Simpatico Theatre Project's production of , well, falls.
. The line is spoken in Act One, Scene Three, by the rather ridiculous Sir Andrew: “What is ‘Pourquoi’? do or not do? I would I had bestowed that time in the tongues that I have in fencing, dancing and bear-baiting: O, had I but followed the arts!” Now, on with the listings!

Looking ahead at your Monday night and seeing nothing but watching re-runs or scouring Myspace for high school classmates?
Brett Myers gave Phillies fans a nice Easter gift: a big, fat, round egg in the runs column. He pitched a gem yesterday afternoon (7 2/3 innings, no runs, 7 hits, five strike outs and one walk) to close out the Colorado Rockies, and Arthur Rhodes and Tom Gordon wrapped up the shut out. Not that the Phillies did much better offensively than Colorado, winning the 1-0 game on a solo Ryan Howard home run. But, hey, a win's a win, so we'll take it.
The Guardian Angels are back.
The Philadelphia Phillies will announce today at 4 p.m. that they have fired General Manager Ed Wade. Since we only get happy when bloggers get fired (or, you know, win Pulitzers), we're pretty so-so about this...
